Says you. A panhandler in New York can easily make much more than minimum wage - $10-20/hr depending on location, time of year, and time of day. I knew at least one who commuted in from the NJ suburbs to beg in the Wall Street area (saw him on the PATH coming in one morning before he had fully changed into his bum clothes) - nice enough guy, but I never gave him money because I have no interest in making begging more lucrative than working.
In houston, one guy drove his BENTLEY CONTINENTAL to the galleria area, and then walked across the street in rags and started panhandling. I get where you are coming from man...

It takes a very specific personality to want to do this. I'm sure these people are doing it for "the hang". They love the romanticized idea of camping out for something.. could be anything! It's totally absurd and yes, these people need to get lives. I will even bet you that there's someone in that line who isn't going to buy an iPhone...they're just there to keep someone company. The biggest loser of losers.
So yeah, instead of waiting in line and having fun with fellow mac geeks, you're online talking trash about people with more conviction than you. You guys are SO much cooler than them.
I really hope all you people walk out of the store on Friday with your foot in your mouth after being turned away because they're sold out and you thought you could just stroll in and buy your iPhone. "Waiting in line and having fun ?!" What, are you twelve ?! Maybe that's what it is. You guys are kids and have nothing better to do with your time. So be it. I don't care. I'm just saying I think it's extreme and unneccessary.
Please know that my opinion is not based on any sort of "coolness" factor. I'm sure that you way "cooler" than me.
You may be right. We'll see. And whether I get one tomorrow or not, I refuse to stand in a line for more than an hour. Just not going to do it. I'll go Saturday morning and pick one up. whatever.
I agree. I'm tired of seeing so many haters on the Internet lately. What's so wrong with waiting in line for a product you are passionate for? I waited for five hours in the freezing cold for my Wii and I was damn proud.
People do it to stay off the grid. If you don't file income taxes, ever, the IRS can't go after you.

People are just upset that the people in line may make it harder for them to waltz up and get a phone without waiting.
I sat in line at Best Buy for the PS3 and you know what. I did have a great time. It was more of a camp out party then standing in line. Each night, we brought out cases of beer and ordered pizza for everyone. We helped each other out getting supplies, picking up food, etc. We joked, we made new friends and had a damn good time.
If you don't want to wait in line, don't. If you think you can get it on Saturday, great ... let me know how it works out for ya. Maybe you will get it, but chances are pretty low.

If they want to chill in line for a few days for an iPhone, I really have no problems with that. Everyone here is freaking out because they're not into it. Not everyone is like you. As soon as you understand that you can start to be more understanding when people do things that you wouldn't do.

Regarding my previous post, I wasn't mocking people for waiting in line for a phone (hey, different strokes for different folks); but just pointing out it isn't "living in the moment", but the absolute other end of the universe from that.
(Though I still wouldn't fancy having dozens of people camping outside/near my business, regardless of what they were queueing for).
