A slight crop (just removed the lower, non-sunlit part + resizing to be 4096px wide so that I can attach it; no other adjustments!) from today morning. Notice the heavy noise reduction & consequent blurring in the original ProRAW file (which is also available: https://drive.google.com/file/d/13oYn1iBvwT1XQnew7qjvbBSl5hMLMa2W/view?usp=sharing ) in the foliage in the shadows of the lower left corner! I wish ProRAWs in some way stored the original frames the final, "baked" ProRAWs are computed from, should one want to have the real raw sensor output, without any kind of subsequent noise reduction applied by the phone.

Strange, the attached version's white balance is definitely changed (yellows are less warm because the red component is reduced; I also verified this with MacOS' Digital Color Meter) - WTF is going on? (And checked this with my own eyes, on both an external non-HDR monitor and on the 2021 16"'s internal one) Does the MacRumors engine change the white balance of uploaded images? Did any of you notice something like this with your own pics?

Well, the online version is a bit 'flat' when comparing to the DNG from your Google Drive. But I don't think a € 1500 MBA has a screen quality to 'test' this.

I do see quite a bit of compression of my photos uploaded here, when comparing the exported JPG from my originals.

Yup, the MacRumors attached version is flatter than that of even flickr embedded screens, which are unchanged (as it's plain external URL embedding and not a locally-hosted image). I wonder if the same "flattening" happens to every single attached image here?

Awesome set of photos, love the second shot, really cinematic. The exposure and colours are fantastic too, was there much editing in capture one or just basic adjustments? They look like promo shots for the iphone 14. 👏
Thank you! Very basic editing, no masks, curve adjustment or HSL. I'm still getting used to the ProRAW files though, as in my experience they behave a little different than your usual RAW file.

For one, when shooting with a camera I'm used to underexposing a bit in very high contrast situations. I did this for this photos, but Apple handles exposure in a really weird way.. underexposing makes highlights look off, like they do when you start messing with the Luminance setting in Lightroom. You can see this in the first picture, where the clouds look muddy.

Then there's editing software. I really like Capture One, but it seems it cannot interpret the DNG corretly. The "white" and "highlight" sliders pretty much don't do anything. LR is better, but gives me a very flat image, and I have to spend twice the time to get the images to look like what I'm envisioning.

I will continue experimenting, but so far I'm very impressed and in some situations it is way better than the 13 Pro.
For instance, when I took this photo it was very dark already, and it still turned out great, especially for social media sharing:

How did you manage to get the moon spots? Every time I tried to capture the moon it’s always just a blurb of light. Did you do anything special there?

It's a lot easier to get these pictures when 1. The moon is relatively low in the sky (looks bigger) and 2. It is still daytime, so the difference in brightness between the moon and everything else is within the sensor dynamic range.

Just switch to RAW, expose for the moon and recover the shadows later. The ProRAW files are very flexible and you can get a lot of information from the dark areas with very little noise.

To change the exposure open the camera app and tap the "+-" button, then lower the exposure until the moon spots start to become visible. This allows you to underexpose up to 2 stops. You can lower the exposure further by tapping to focus and then dragging your finger down.
