Very rarely do I a) use the selfie camera and b) and take selfies 😂

But our first night and last night in Cala D'or, Mallorca (Majorca)

Been a lovely short 5 day break, gorgeous place and lovely sun (opposed to the horrible weather back home in Lancashire, UK)!

Leaving later this afternoon, so enjoying the last of the sun and some time by the pool...

Back to the grindstone tomorrow 🤨

You have a beautiful wife. Congratulations and many blessings!

Good evening.. So how many of you iPhone photographers shoot with ProRaw or RAW exclusively? Then if not all the time, then a lot of the time? I ask because I started using an app called NOMO RAW2. It claims to remove the excessive sharpening and color emphasis on ProRaw photos. This option is in settings in the app. I turned raw sharpening off and I’m pleased at what I see. So I’d like to share. I was skeptical about the app at first because it requires a subscription before you can use it, so I chose the $2.99/mo to test it out or pay $15 for lifetime. So, I guess I’ll buy it. I’ve tested it enough to know if it holds up to the hype, which apparently it does. Tonight I took some low light samples of a shrub, ISO 800 and 600% crops from the iPhone native camera app & one from NOMO RAW. These screen shots are directly from the raw file and there is a clean difference in the app vs the default iPhone camera. As mentioned, these crops are zoomed in as far as my iPad Pro would go, 600% or more! The NOMO RAW2 app looks more natural and cleaner. Anyway, im hoping some of you find this useful. My 48mp edited ProRaw photos from NOMO RAW2 never looked so good!!!

What the app description says about raw

”Image Refinement: With ProRAW as the starting point, NOMO RAW could further remove the artifacts on your mobile photos, including over sharpening, luminance noise, detail loss, etc.”

Full shot with area of enlargement circled:

A noticeable difference! File sizes aside (I've only got the 128GB 14PM) I actually find having ProRaw set to 12MP instead of 48MP seems to lead to a better overall image? Maybe it's just my imagination but it doesn't feel as 'messy' somehow.

I had been shooting ProRAW exclusively on my 14PM and processing in Lightroom - much like my DSLR workflow. But I started using the Halide camera app with its 48MP JPEG and have been pleasantly surprised by the results - really quite good. And it has good manual controls if desired.

Another sample from the NOMO RAW2 app and Lightroom mobile edit. I love the way this app removes the excessive sharpness and luminous layers etc. from the ProRaw format file and allows me to edit this photo as a straightforward Raw file. So much detail and no artifacts. if you shoot Rall exclusively, or a lot of the time, you need this app!

Full view and heavy crop, 400% or more

Anyone here who owned a 13 Pro Max 256GB or higher and a 14 Pro Max 256GB or higher [storage capacity mentioned due to feature limitation] and compared the same photos/videos side by side?

Other than the 48MP sensor, which is only fully utilized when you shoot in 48MP RAW, do you feel that the 14 Pro Max cameras are a downgrade from the 13 Pro Max when it comes to aperture?

13 Pro Max [iPhone 13 Pro - Technical Specifications]
Wide: ƒ/1.5 aperture
Ultra Wide: ƒ/1.8 aperture
Telephoto: ƒ/2.8 aperture

14 Pro Max [iPhone 14 Pro - Technical Specifications]
Wide: ƒ/1.78 aperture
Ultra Wide: ƒ/2.2 aperture
Telephoto: ƒ/2.8 aperture

No the 14 promax is not a downgrade on the camera based on the aperture of F/1.8. This is because the new sensor is a quad sensor and it pulls in a lot more light. I haven’t noticed any difference over my 13 promax that I previously had other than the optics are sharper on the 14. The telephoto is the exact same telephoto on the 14 p.m. as it is on the 13 p.m. you can utilize the 48 megapixel resolution using third-party apps, such as a Halide or Nomo raw, ProCamera to name a few these apps will allow you to shoot JPEG or HEIF add 48 megapixel resolution. The Ultra Wide camera has a new sensor on the 14 pro/pro max and it does not affect picture quality due to the aperture change. It’s actually a much nicer camera. Hope this helps.
