Wow, since it was fine before, have you tried restoring as new? Probably better to isolate the problem before you take it to the Apple Store.

I have thought about it, but haven't yet. I will do so tomorrow while I'm at work and see if that helps. I would definitely like to avoid a trip to the Apple store.
