good afternoon 😃 here’s one I took today

Ok… someone is going to have to set their new iPhone on a tripod and a 30” night mode shot of the stars and Milky Way so I can see how it performs. Dark skies are best.
I'm looking forward to some astrophotography on my new iPhone when it gets here.

Got my iPhone 13 pro yesterday, upgrading from 12 Pro Max. With that generational upgrade in mind, I have to say I’m pretty disappointed. Cinematic mode looks nowhere as good as Apple represented it to, blurry hair ruins it. I took some photos of my son today outside with the 77mm lens and I see no difference between it and the 12promax. Even the normal wide camera, it’s a stretch to see any difference. I know low light should be better, but I’m not buying that it is vastly better. Macro is cool. I mostly got it because I’m a videographer and was seriously excited about ProRes, but having now seen the results of the new sensor, I’m not convinced that ProRes will really add much to IQ. Think I’m going to return it and keep my 12promax. Maybe if I was coming from an older phone I’d be more impressed.

Same here! The night mode is supposed to take longer single exposures three 10” shots and combine, instead of fifteen 2” shots. Night mode should do a lot better with that!! The Milky Way photo posted was taken with my 12 pro max at a dark sky location… it was a 30” exposure. Edit in Lightroom on ProRAW

How do you manage to get a really clear picture close up?

My other half is trying to take a photo of her nails (as she works in a Nail Salon)

and the camera switches as she draws her hand closer, but the picture is grainy and a bit blurry, is there something she needs to switch on? Does everyone ensure plenty of light is on?

Light and make sure the camera side approaches the subject not the other side
