🌁 It cost $0.50—each way—to cross the Golden Gate Bridge in 1937. 🌁

I've found adding B&W filtering with some small amount of grain really sells the illusion of portrait mode. Portrait mode has come a long way since its debut. Edge detection (especially on hair and objects) has really improved, thanks LiDAR!

Ultrawide is still my favorite lens ever since getting this phone, a huge step up from the 11 Pro. I love taking ultrawide videos because of how stable and usable the footage has become. Indoor ultrawide video (especially in tight rooms) is amazing.

The big problem with ultrawide is you have to take extra care to line everything up and make sure the shot isn't off axis, at least in situations with clear geometry (rooms, halls, buildings in general). Even if I take my time many of my ultrawide shots are off axis and ruin the entire shot for me. An example of this is attached below, the slight off centering is irritating. Sometimes you can adjust crop, tilt, perspective, etc. in Pixelmator/Lightroom but the effects are noticeable regardless (for reference this image has no cropping or adjustment). I guess this is always going to be a problem with the shooter, not the device although I wonder if Apple can figure out a way to mitigate the issue in a future phone 🤔

Oh and another thing, this was taken with my "Rich Warm" photographic style preset. I have that preset enabled 24/7. I'm really looking forward to seeing where they take photographic styles in the future (maybe emulations of film looks with nice blooming?)

Thanks for the explanation and pointers for ultrawide shots. I like that shot and really like the portrait of the mushroom (I think it is).
