Now I just need to decide if I want the Fitbit Versa or Fossil Sport to pair with the Pixel 3XL. Or do I even want a watch. Leaving towards the Fitbit

My husband felt very much the same when he got the 2XL last year. But now he loves his 3XL. However it's still not without some aspects that annoy him greatly from time to time.

One thing about the Pixel experience for both of us is that the expression YMMV or Your mileage may vary is all too apt with these phones. It's an inconsistent experience across a large sample of users. Hell, it's an inconsistent experience for one user from day to day. The overall experience needs more polish and refinement. But there is something that makes us use these phones as much as possible. I'd attempt to articulate what that might be, if I were more awake.

I don't know, Android just seems so unfinished, almost as unfinished as 2 years ago when I was using it regularly and in some ways less finished. Although I never really used Vanilla Android regularly, being mostly on Samsung phones. I just don't understand why Google can't tie up all the loose ends. There is sort of a very limited dark mode, then another dark mode you can enable by going into the secret developer menu, but they are very limited, far from system wide, and don't give you dark mode within web pages for example. Widgets also are so unfinished, their really is no design language to widgets that devs have to follow, so you get this mish mash of different styles, colors, fonts, functionality, etc. I've really grown to like iOS widgets in that they are uniform and located in the same place. I've tried to replicate that functionality, but you can't vertically scroll a home screen so I don't think it's possible. I don't know which messenger service to use.

With all that said I'm still having major trust issues with Google as well, they have had an inordinate amount of privacy scandals just this past year alone. It seemed that every single cool app or function on Android requires you to give up your privacy.

Maybe it's because of where I live, but I just sort of text people with the Android Messages app.

While I’m tempted to get an S10+, I’ve found myself looking st 3XL prices. To save me searching the thread, how are owners finding the notch? Is it something you quickly adjust to? Particularly interested to hear what people think who’ve had the iPhone X/XS.

Storage is a major downside though, think I’d struggle with 128gb and no sd card slot. I really hope the Pixel 4 has a 256gb option.

Granted I'm only 2 days in, the notch doesn't bother me coming from iPhone X. It's a little bigger but same concept.

I have the 64gb and have probably 3,000 songs downloaded from Spotify, all my apps including 7 games, bigger ones. Still have 29gb left. Not sure how true this is but I think Android apps might take up less space than iOS because my same set up of apps and music downloaded left me with about 18gb left on my iPhone X.

And in regards to the Galaxy S10, I feel you. I've added it to my cart a couple times, but the camera on this device is by far the best experience I've ever had even in 2 days time. Night Sight us brilliant. Portrait Mode is unmatched. And one other thing, the pixel stand is an amazing accessory. I have it set it show my favorite family photos when docked at work. I like the stand so much that I'm considering buying a 2nd one.

I've been wondering if I can get by with 64gb on my next phone. I don't play a lot of games and don't keep a lot of music or movies on there (only load up if I'm going on a trip). I have a 256gb iX right now and I think it helps me hoard apps. Less storage help me Marie Kondo my phone.

Lol exactly. What I found with more storage is that I'd store a bunch of games that I don't have time to play because I work 50hrs/wk and have 2 kids.

Everything else is on the cloud for me. The only reason I even download songs is because there's a dead spot on my way to work where I lose data.

I hear ya with the busy life. I play zero games that I have on my phone. I have a busy work schedule and four kids so it's pretty impossible for me to sit around and play if it's not with the kids.

It’s the front camera on the Samsung’s that I can’t quite get past. Sometimes outdoors they’re not too bad but inside they just don’t cut it for me with pics of people & pets. Only been happy with iPhone & Pixel.

Storage wise I could probably scrape by with 128gb for a while but I like to store a lot of music, video & photos on the device. And now I’ve got a fair bit of 4K video. Google photos doesn’t organise how I prefer or keep the same quality I can get from storing on the phone itself.

Surprised nowhere in the UK has the 3XL for less than full retail though!

Yup.
It’s also a bit of a missed opportunity for them to not lower the price given the reveal of the S10 now.

I definitely think they’d make some buyers who were eyeing up the S10 pause for thought if they took £200 off the retail price.

I’ve seen a 128gb XL for £730 on eBay brand new. But only full price everywhere else.

I’d be happy at £700 knowing how much I use a phone. Even £900 if it had only just been released.

Yeah I think I would if it was just released.
But the Pixel 2 had already been reduced quite heftily several times by this time last year - so I think I'm still bitter about the fact they haven't repeated that with the 3. :p

Huge sales at USA target last week on pixel 3/3 xl. Like $450 off (straight $450’off) with verizon offer. This week is $450 gift card deal. And for upgrades. Don’t even have to be a new customer or new line. Just simple upgrade and none of the pesky installment monthly credits either that ties u to a contract.

It’s pretty obvious google has to discount the pixel 3 in wake of the s10 launch.

Honestly, Google has been doing it all along and it's working. They have made it so the Pixel 3 has started at $650 for almost the entirety of its existence. It's a great way to undercut the market and it is definitely working as Google is now the fastest growing Android OEM.
