Great question! What makes the iPad Pro a "Pro" device? At least Microsoft got it right with the Surface Pro 3. It is running a full desktop OS with more ports to offer more functionality. It has USB, Mini Display Headphone ports to go along with the charging port.

So what makes my Samsung Galaxy Tab "Pro" 8.4 is then?? Is it a "Pro tablet"? HELL YESS IT IS!!

The "Pro" only means it is a very high end/powerful and really good tablet that has awesome and top of the line specs and set it, it does not mean it has to have a Full fledged desktop OS or ability to connect to a external monitor anything like that and lots more.

And It does not matter if it has a Desktop OS like Windows or not and these days mobile OS IOS and Android are getting more advanced every year and so easy/fun to use and so touch friendly unlike Windows on tablets!!

So It is still a "Pro" tablet even the high end tablets that have been released in the past year like the Sony Xperia Z4 tablet, Nexus 9, IPad Air 2 and Pro tablet period!!!!!!

Looks like nice hardware, but what's the point when Google has basically abandoned the tablets on the software side?.

Why do you say Google has abandoned tablets on the software side????

I don't really think soo, I think it is improving on tablets!

BS....got a call it like I see it. Throwing the "Pro" moniker on the something does not make it a professional device.
The iPad Pro isn't a professional device just because it is the biggest ipad. Sorry epic fail. It is not a professional device but more like a bigger ipad for media and entertainment purposes.

The Surface Pro 3 has a desktop OS with more options for a professional to use. Then it has more ports a professional would use as well.

You can throw the Pro moniker on something but it doesn't make a it any more functional or useful!!!!!!!!!!
See i can add exclamation :). But adding exclamations does not make my point anymore valid....like adding Pro after a device does not make it a professional device either......

Have to agree the Surface Pro 3 is the real Pro since it can multiboot Windows, Linux, BSD and even OS X. The others are Prosumer.

Ok fair enough, I think we both have different definitions of what "Pro" is.

So let's agree to disagree ok! :)

I like this, but I'll probably get the Apple iPad Pro LTE 128GB in the end. That 4GB RAM is the main reason, and then also the fact that games will be well tailored for the A9X SoC.

I do a lot of gaming on my iPad 4, and with 128GB in the iPad Pro I'll do a lot more of that and loading series on it, along with the note taking with MS OneNote.

I hope the Pixel C's Tegra X truly shines and does not overheat, NVidia seems to be having a hard time in mobile, the weird part? They were the 1st to make a GPU for a mobile with the NVidia GeForce 4800 found in the 2006 SonyEricsson W900i, they have had so much time and experience.

Well if u game, based on the power of the a9 and 2 gb ram on the iPhone, I gotta imagine the a9x and 4 gb ram is gonna be a beast.

The games on mobile platforms are pants. The nvidia streaming service is obviously a different beast but that poster above makes it sound like he will be doing and can do hard core coming on an iPad lol

Even the 4 GB of right on a mobile platform isn't being used to date. Sure maybe in 2 or so more years but right now apps are just dumb versions of the desktop counter parts.

Have you read some of the tech behind the iPad Pro? Its not "just" for media consumption.

Yeap, I think the iPad Pro and this new Pixel tablet will make very powerful gaming machines, if that's what you want of course out of these big devices. Even though they are aimed at productivity.

Nothing wrong with gaming on tablets, I do on my Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, being an 8" tablet it's pretty good for those fun games. Hell I had Doom 3 running on it and Half Life 1, but deleted them after as I just wanted to see if it could do it. It does do hardcore gaming too as it can stream your PS4 onto it.
I played games on my iPad Mini, and I will play games on my iPod Touch that I'll get at Christmas hopefully.

Yes I have. I was heart set on getting one after the keynote address. I don't thing it can replace my rMBP. I might get a Surface Pro 4 when it is announced next month.

Oh no. I would never replace my rMBP. No tablet will ever appeal to me that much but I can see the Pro (either tablet) being an excellent secondary device.

Out of curiosity, is the SP4 gonna replace your rMBP? And if so, why?

The SP4 has not been announced yet. Maybe the end of this month. But rumors have it being more refined and with thinner bezels and faster specs and better battery life. Plus it will come with a LTE option as well.
The SP has a full desktop OS. Not a toned down version that eliminates a lot of functions. It also has external ports to connect to an external monitor if i choose to. Plus external storage options. Then the touchscreen is a major feature as well. I find i am using my rMBP on the sofa or in bed a lot. Sometimes the keyboard just gets in the way of typing when a touchscreen would be nice. Having a device that can do all that is a major attraction for me.
