Planning on upgrading from my 15 Pro Max to the 17 Pro Max. Hoping that the zoom is 5x at least. Would be really nice if the orange color comes to the Pro model.

I’m tempted by the Air, particularly if it has ProMotion. As I have a big Nikon Z series camera now, I care much less about the iPhone camera so don’t mind stepping back from the pro setup. Currently have a 14PM, and most likely will end up getting the 17PM if the final spec list on the Air doesn’t sway me.

I’m not so keen on the shift back to aluminium. I am very fond of the look and feel of the stainless steel and prefer it to the titanium of the 15/16 Pros. The orange will be my first choice if it’s a copper tone, but I’ll go blue if it’s anything like the more recent renders are showing.

I am not hugely excited by the 17 series, and have a feeling the 18 might have more wow factor and I’ll end up upgrading again next year. But 3 years is enough for a refresh for me and I can hand the 14PM off to family who are much older devices.

Nooo, I have a 16 Pro Max and have another year on my contract anyway. Quite enjoying the fact the rumours of the 17 Pro/Pro Max show there to be very little in the way of big improvements, which is the way it should be when paying so much for these devices.

Likely not, for the first time in quite a few years. Even after Apple fixed the iPhone 6 debacle ("bend-gate"), I had some display issues that I think were caused by flexing of frame. The 48mp tele lens is very attractive, but I don't have any complaints about the current version. I will probably let all the upgraders be the gamma testers on the new aluminum chassis.

Changing my 16 Pro for a 17 Pro Max. In 2026 I’m fairly sure I’ll decide the PM is too big and go back to the Pro. At least I’m predictable

Most likely upgrading from a 15 Pro 256GB to equivalent 17. Battery is 90% but struggling to get through the day. Its in good condition and will do a trade in.

I am not planning on it but my wife might if she likes the orange/copper. We currently have 16 Pro's so clearly we don't need to and weren't planning to either but when I told my wife about the possibility of an orange iphone......

As of now, no. I'll wait until we're done with all the rumors and get the final announcements about the new phones, but right now I don't see anything compelling to make me upgrade from the 16 Pro.

Got a 16 PM so I haven’t upgraded in a year and getting bored, trying to hold off on getting the Fold 7 and wait for Apples foldable next year. So most likely getting the 17 Air just to get something new to hold me over until then.

Do you expect bigger upgrade between 16PM to 17PM, or between 17PM to 18PM? Currently I have an 15PM and I’m looking forward to Iphone Foldable (I’d bet is going to be called iPhone Ultra) but taking into account is gen 1 product, maybe the right thing to do is buying 17PM this year and wait for fodable gen 2 in two years…

Yes, definitely. It might sound ridiculous but I felt mad at Apple last year that the upgrades to the 16 Pros were so small. I felt like they wasted a year of progress. So, I’m definitely ready for an upgrade.

My biggest complaints about my 15PM are the thermals and battery life. Battery life isn’t bad, it just doesn’t give me the peace of mind that I’d like it to. So if I can get the 16PM battery improvements and maybe even more, it’ll be nice.

The thermals are actually annoying though. The phone gets hot way too often and can’t last long in bright sunlight before dimming. At that point, it feels like it defeats the purpose of having such a bright screen. Good luck taking photos or videos in the summer outside for longer than a couple minutes. It dims indoors in a/c while charging and using it at a higher brightness level. Also just at random times it gets hot.

So, I’m really hoping the rumors of vapor chamber cooling and aluminum are true because they should improve the thermals. Aluminum should also be lighter than titanium or glass, which is promising since both the frame and rear camera bar are supposed to aluminum. I’d prefer if the 17PM was lighter than my 15PM or at least stayed the same, and I know the 16PM gained some weight.

Aluminum should also allow for more fun, saturated colors too, which I’ve been wanting on the Pro models. I’m hoping Apple doesn’t disappoint with the orange/bronze color.

I’m hoping the anti-reflective coating similar to Samsung’s is true too. I love inky blacks on OLED displays, and this would also help outdoor viewing. Plus, I’ll get that slight screen size increase that the 16 Pro Maxes got.

Getting all 48MP rear cameras and a doubling in resolution of the selfie camera should be really nice. I love the 5X telephoto camera. It’s going to be really nice to have a 48MP telephoto that can zoom as far as 7-8x and crop to 3.5-4x.

It’ll be nice to get two generations of chip upgrades, 5G modem upgrades (better speed, efficiency, and connection hopefully), and WiFi 7 now that I have a WiFi 7 router. Getting 50% more RAM should be really nice too. It’ll feel weird having an iPhone with more RAM than my iPad Pro.

So, yes, I’m upgrading and very excited. It feels like there are a lot of really solid quality of life upgrades here.

I’m in the same boat upgrading from the 14PM. I just don’t take so many pictures anymore and I want a lighter phone.

I think Apple determined the benefits of stainless steel or titanium, were outweighed by the cons. Both are heavier than aluminum and neither offer a significant improvement with drop protection. I’ve seen videos where the aluminum iPhone survived better than the stainless steel one. It adds extra weight which increases the impact, but doesn’t protect the glass.

There’s always “The next model is going to be the big refresh”. According to rumors, it’s pretty clear that the 17 is not going to be that iPhone. Will the 18 be that iPhone? Only apple knows.

I’ll probably buy the Air but since it’s a new model, I might wait a month or two just in case something crazy comes out with it. It’s not like Apple is going to run out of iPhones before I can buy one.

Yeah, I get the logic behind the shift back to aluminium, and I won’t be complaining about the phone losing some weight in my pocket. I’m just quite attached to the feel and look of stainless, but like anything I’ll get used to the change.

Let’s not forget the supposed 20th anniversary in 2027, maybe that’ll be the year. Hopefully they’ll do something exciting for it. Maybe they’ll delay the fold a year and make that it heh.

Yes indeed, planning on going from my 15 Pro Max 512GB to 17 Pro Max 512GB.
Will give 15 PM to my Mom.
My 15 PM is now at 94% battery health and still going pretty well.
