I wasn't sure, but figured this is the most likely reason, rather than upgrading this particular product. Unfortunately, I don't think you were alone on this (particularly for owners of the 1080P variants).

Well, I guess the only good thing for me at the time was that it wasn't very difficult to sell (high demand, limited numbers) for my asking price. I bought the set new for around $2k in a closeout sale and sold it two years later for $1,500. It sold within 3 days of posting it on Craigslist in LA. That's something that NEVER happens with most TV brands.

I'm glad you were able to sell it quickly, and the loss wasn't as bad as it could have been. But it still had to suck. :(

I love my Kuro and also fell on tough times a few years back. I sold many Apple toys and furniture but have that 1080p beauty to this day. It's the only electronic I'll love and keep years later!

Just had a look on the bay out of interest and ouch they are still expensive.

I bought mine about 3 months into the 2008 money crisis. I, fortunately had a stable salaried job. A small local hifi dealer had three of the 60 inch models in store and I recognised that was probably 2 too many. I spent weeks gradually whittling down his expectations for it. I eventually offered him just under half price. Very reluctantly he accepted. I guess you can't afford to have that value of stock sat there when the market for expensive TV's/Hifi has just vanished. Even worse for him, the first one had a dead pixel and I had made the agreement that if it did, he would swap it. (He kept his word.)

It still takes pride of place in the lounge and as I said before will be hard to beat.

Hello,

Quick info for those considering the Panasonic VIERA TC-P46S30. I went to a store and watched the 46S30 and 46ST30 right next to each other. Some reviews I've read online would like us to believe that the only difference between the two is that the ST line can do 3D.

Not true.

The ST line has much much much better blacks, and thus PQ. And it's not a questions of settings: when both TVs are off, one is black, and the other is grey. Simple as that. It's not even subtle: it jumps out at you.

I'm not interested in 3D, but I'm willing to pay the extra $ just for the better PQ.

Hi guys,

just had a quick read about the issues in the 2011 range from panasonic. It seems that all of their panels may have this issue to some degree.

Because of its nature this issue will be more obvious at home after dark than in the day or in the brightly lit store. It also means that it will be impossible to accurately calibrate this screen as it has a moving baseline.

This may be fixable by firmware but my money would be staying put until I knew this issue was sorted.

Good luck.
