iPad Air Please help me decide on which iPad Air!

Buy now: 64gb Air in pink (favorite color) for $399 at Walmart + pencil 2 for $79 = $478 + tax

OR

Wait til June BTS sale: 128gb Air in blue for $549 from edu store + pencil pro for $19 (after $100 gift card from sale) = $568 + tax

I’m not an artist. Need a pen due to wrist injury. Mainly stream movies and tv. Don’t care for keyboards. Photos and iMessage usually takes most my storage.

I personally don’t accumulate much “stuff” that fills memory, but I have found that 64gb is just no longer going to be enough for me these days with apps and whatnot. So I’d vote for 128gb, think that gives you some headroom to better future-proof your iPad.

Have you seen the Air 5 in person? My observation would be that it’s not very pink, but then again the Air 6 colours also seem pale.

The OS and system files now take up ~20GB, so there might only be 40GB or so of usable space (and OS size only seems to go one way.) Is the 256GB Air 5 an option and if so, what’s the price on that?

Does the BTS sale usually cover new products? I recall seeing some promos excluding them.

I cannot make 64 GB work for me anymore. If you can, go for that. If not, aim for the storage you require. Don’t forget Apple allows two weeks testing inside the return window. If it doesn’t work, return it.

The old 265gb Air is not on sale like the 64gb at $200 off. I think it’s only like $100 off, maybe $150 at most. $400 for a M chip iPad just seems almost too good to pass up but yeah the space is a bit worrisome. I also like the find my feature on the new pencil, but is it easy to not lose if I’m really careful?

“Every other retailer” does not have a 15 day return policy. Which is why I suggested verifying. Often retailers other than Apple will have a longer return window than buying direct (which is 14 days) but they also have more exclusions, possible restocking fees, etc.

Amazon, Walmart, Target, Best Buy. These are the places I shop and most people too I imagine.

Only Costco allows 90 days, but Costco prices have been really sucky lately.

Thanks! Yeah we decided against the 64b. The kicker was I took a look at my wife's iPhone 11 which is also 64gb. She ran out of room after 3 years.

I'd buy an iPad Pro previous gen for the 120hz screen, once you have used that you wont go back.
You can absolutely find one at the price point of the air brand new.

All I can say is...RIP to the 64/256 GB storage tiers with nothing in between. It never made a lot of sense.

I got 256 GB with my 2017 iPad Pro and it is retiring today with the storage almost exactly half full.

256 gb seems like a good place for these new ipads. I'm actually considering getting 256 gb with the new M2 Air now since it seems like Apple will be coming out with lots of software updates to support AI. With EDU pricing its only $649 which is only $50 more than the current sale price of the M1 iPad Air 256gb for $599, plus I get a $100 gift card with the BTS sale, so basically a free Pencil Pro.

Sounds like 256 GB is good for you...but it always was silly not to offer 128 GB in between! I tend to agree that 64 GB is probably not enough for most these days and 128 is a pretty sensible starting point.
