Just bought a 21.5" quad i5 3.4Ghz 512/16 Apple Refurb for £360 less than new price.

When it arrived it turned out to be an 3.6Ghz i7 :) !.....(now my saving is £440 over new price).

I phoned Apple in case the discrepancy on the invoice might cause problems later on if repair required, and they basically said it's my lucky day and don't worry.

I have heard of this happening to other people and seems yet another reason to get refurbs....you may get lucky.

I essentially have the same unit, except I paid full retail. Once you get used to how quickly this iMac performs, you can never go back to anything slower. Congratulations on scoring a great deal!

My i5 580 SSD arrived this morning. I'm super happy.

Performance so far has been flawless. Even when benchmarking the fan remained at 1200 rpm, and it's practically silent. I can only hear it if I get my head close to the back of the machine, or if the room is dead silent. Even the night crickets mask the sound of the fan.

I knew what to expect as far as performance and such, but I was super impressed after using DisplayCal for calibrating the screen. It reported an average DeltaE of 0.07! Even a monitor like the BenQ SW320 that costs $1500 has a DeltaE avg of about 2.

The gamut is not as spectacular but still very respectable. Obviously not good enough for extremely critical color work but quite frankly at those levels only the monitor costs more than an iMac Pro.

There has never been a best time to buy an iMac. If you start considering the quality of the display, SSD speeds, silent, GPU performance, etc, the price is more than fair.

You got in early, ordered and now have received your iMac. Are you happy with your purchase? Any regrets? Wish you had upgraded the CPU, SSD or ___? What about fan noise? I'm particularly interested in whether your iMac is quiet or not and what CPU choice you made when you make that observation. If you were ordering again, what changes to your order would you make?

The rest of us procrastinators are waiting to hear from you brave early adopters!

Thanks in advance!

[doublepost=1531242442][/doublepost]Only got rid of the previous iMac (also 27") became it developed a screen fault and I could foresee endless hassles untangling it. That one had a 1TB SSD and I wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish I'd done the same with this new one!
It feels slower and clunkier (in spite of the hybrid hard drive) than its predecessor though I'm fairly used to it now.
The only reason I didn't upgrade it was that it would have voided the warranty. Now that that's out of the way I'm seriously considering having an SSD put into it.
Apart from that, it's a perfectly satisfactory iMac – no reason at all to hold back. IMHO.
