Please. Urgent. Oh god I m so unhappy. Please help. Need Black MB in SF today

As someone mentioned, there are tons of apple stores in the Bay Area. If he's going to be coming down to San Jose from San Francisco, he could literally hit 9000 (I kid you not) Apple stores on the drive down.
On a more serious note: there are at least 5 Apple stores on the drive down from San Francisco to San Jose.

One More serious thing guys. There are already reports of some whining MacBooks. I really hope mine doesnt have any problem. But in case it does then I m in serious trouble. I know apple care will work here. But how will they replace the MB if they dont even have a launch in India.

FYI. I had much better support for my iBook G4 in India than anyone of you can claim. I took it to applecare and just talked to guy nicely. That was more than enough to get my HDD changed from original 40GB to the 120 GB I`d got from the market. Absolutely for free. Without voiding the warranty.
Now can apple care in US of A beat that? Also I had a problem with the keyboard. And a new keyb in my iBook within 10 min.

But had to pay bout 30$ when I got the drive replaced once again as I had to sell the iBook off.
And no one had to ask me my name again on any tech support. Never

Actually, this may be a real issue...no black macbooks, I mean...LOL! I stopped by my local Apple store today to play with the new MacBooks (not bad, I must say) and had a conversation with one of the salewomen there. She told me that both local stores sold out of the black MacBooks after a few hours...All they have left are the two white ones.
IMHO, I played with both of them and liked the feel of the white plastic better. It's glossy rather than matte like the black one. The black display model had been on the floor for 3.5 hours before I played with it and the smudges, fingerprints, and scratches were really quite bad already. The fingerprints especially...
Anyway...to the OP: I hope you find your black MacBook. Good luck!

Sounds like Vikas has a case of the "parents-are-making-me-go-back-to-the-home-country-for-the-summer" syndrome. Still, you have to wonder - would it have been worse if the MacBooks were released half-way into your trip? Then all you could do is read about it for a couple of months. At least you have the option now.

Hey where in India are you from Vikas? I'm from Bombay.. here in Cali since the last 5 years. And for all those who think his problems aren't that big of a deal.. trust me, they are!
When I was in Bombay a few months ago, the MBPs had just come out. A friend of mine (who's a DJ) was totally salivating at the thought of having one of the MBPs.. and was shocked when he was told that he had to wait for 3 months
All he could talk about 24/7 was the MBP.. and what a lucky bastard I was since I would be going back to the US and getting one soon.. hehe.. eventually he had to fly to Antwerp (Belgium) to pick one up .. yeah.. he has that kind of money.
For us mac fanatics.. when a new product comes out.. heck, we need it rightaway! 3-5 business days shipping sounds like an eternity for the macbooks.. imagine hearing 3 months.. lol.

i so understand ur dilemma vikas...i was plannin on doing the same to get my macbook...ask someone in the US to bring it to India...But i'm gonna leave India next month n head to Australia so changed my mind and decided to jus buy it in Oz....But I'm having a hard time not calling my relatives in the US and placing the order...hope it works out for u...

Did you buy the Ibook in Inida? Since if you buy a MB from the US I think the warranty is US only not for export. I could be wrong , but i saw that somewhere.

Came back to the MR. All posters very shouting like crazy. No one really xpected them to be launched today. Thursday lseemed more like the launch day.
God. That was way too much excitement for me. I really wanted a black. WTF. It`ll cost 400$ more
. My budget was 1300 at best. But I couldnt resist the temptation for black. It felt so s#xy. Finally decided I m gonna get the black one. Will manage the extra 200$. How? Didnt know then. Didnt even think bout the money any more. I just wanted one in my hands. Any damn How.
Called my cousin in SF. Asked him. Rather Pleaded him to run and get one for me right now. I feared that they might get sold out. But he said he has to go college and will go to the store only after that. God knows how I went through those 4-5 hours. Seemed like at least a day passed before he was online again. He asked me which one I want. Black. Black. Black. Need I say more. Then he called the store and handed me the BOMB. They didnt have black in stock,
This couldnt be true. No this cant be possible. I couldnt wait till tomm. As he was going to San Jose. and coming back to India straight away. All I had in hand was two hours to decide. Should I wait for the black in India then. God. That will mean atleast 2 more months with this compaq. And it`d already broke all records yesterday. Hanged every 5 minutes. Had to restart it atleast 3-4 times in 7 hours. I cant stay with this piece of Garbage anymore. Not after Mbs are released.
So should I go for the White one then. What other option I had.
Decided to put the query in MR and see if I can find some thing. Everyone tried to help as much as he/she could. Thanx a lot guys. But there were no Black MB left in the whole of Bay area as they were already sold out.
EDIT: Sorry for the extremelyyyyy long post. But couldnt resist the temptation to share my excitement.

But now since all the excitement has gone down. And I m back to my senses. I think a white one is not really bad at all. Also after seeing a few real pics of the black ones in these forums; I`ve decided to stick with the White one Only. Also it saved me a lot of money which I didnt even have in first place(original budget being 1300$ at max).
The black one looks more susceptible to dust n finger prints than white. And a Photoshopped pic of Black MB with a Dell logo in place of MacBook was a real eye opener for me. Once you set aside the fact that it wasnt an Apple; It looks really bad compared to my iBook G4. Looks more like one of those fugly PeeCee lappys.
In any case. My cousin has already bought the white MB with a super drive for me. Now I just cant wait till monday when he reaches India.

Another good reason to make me feel better bout my White MacBook-
The black coating is peeling of pretty easily I think. An accidental fingernail scratch was more than enough for this to happen.
I m convinced bout the white more n more now.

Nice to know you are getting your Macbook soon. I swapped my intel iMac for MBP and came home Tuesday late night. I logged on the net and opened Safari on my 'new' 1.83 MBP and it takes me to the apple start page and the first thing I saw on this computer was the news of the MB launch.
It is not much different from this MBP
A friend called Apple Sales today and they said MB's might be available in India within two weeks. The 17" hasn't been launched yet but they are talking of MB's so early ?

Yes the difference is much smaller than any of us imagined. Other than the Dedicated Gfx everything else is almost the same. And it has a cool new design too. I m already in love with it. Couldnt be happier.rishi said:It is not much different from this MBP
That may be coz there wud be very few buyers of 17" MBP in India as compared to the MB(not saying that even MB will sell a lot. But i`ll try to convince anyone buying a new Lappy and has a good enough Budget to atleast consider a MB)rishi said:

I know how you feel. My Pismo Powerbook looks great in black. I don't know if I could ever switch to a white or metal laptop. I wish my Core Duo iMac was in black.
