Although I really appreciate all the discussions in this forum, nothing guarantees us that Apple listens to what we say here.

In the Yosemite Beta there is a Feedback Assistant App which can be used to directly tell Apple what does not work or what you are not happy with in Yosemite.

This app guarantees you that apple reads your complaints!!

So please keep posting here but at the same time also use the Feedback Assistant to tell Apple about your problems and wishes. That is what a Beta program is for and they will be happy with your feedback!!

Yeah, too bad BFA doesn't work for "your design is completely and utterly inconsistent and broken in general".

That is a taste statement and as such not something requiring feedback as taste is subjective!

I have been providing feedback through the feedback assistant, however I think it is really good that we have a place to discuss/share our experiences and opinions.

The more feedback Apple gets the better the end product should be.

Agreed, and that includes subjective information as well, but then Apple has never been a company that would seek out consumer opinions, such as focus groups.

I think that's for the best. If they would, we would have similar tasteless junk like Windows. In the end, it's their product not anybody else's, their vision on how computers can be used... And pretty good one... Best one available I'd say.

I report everything that I come across to Apple. I want Yosemite to be as rock solid as it can be for the public release.

Who says we're not already doing that?

I'm sure most people are reporting issues they come across. I guess it never hurts to remind people. There might be a few people who forget, don't bother or simply new to beta testing.

The only thing I'm wondering how effective it is. So far I haven't received a single reply back from Apple (I know they're getting a lot of feedback from across the world, but still). Then there's also the issue where if you and I come across the same bug, chances are really slim we'll report it in exactly the same manner.

I am new to Beta testing so don't know what it is normally like, however I expected that it was quite normal not to receive any response from Apple, unless of course there was a critical and (uniquely reported) issue requiring further information.

Are you really expecting them to reply to you on your bug reports? I went into this (public beta) not expecting any responses at all. As you stated, they're receiving reports from all over, so there is little chance, in my mind, that they're going to take the time to make contact to individuals.

With the feedback app, it's collecting a lot of data and Apple should be aggregating it all together to form a wider picture of what the big and little issues are. I see little reason for them to reach out to very many people over anything.

… "your design is completely and utterly inconsistent and broken in general". …

I see your post at https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=19397383#post19397383 – would you like to go into more detail, under that topic? (Following discussions there, I have a better understanding of why Yosemite repels me.)

… Apple has never been a company that would seek out consumer opinions, such as focus groups.

In my experience, that's untrue.

My own experience aside, please consider at least the following.

Actually, they've made the UI more consistent than Mavericks and Mountain Lion and Snow Leopard.

They've done away with the stupid jelly bean scroll bars that were a relic of the 90's UI where how to judge the OS at the time was who can be the most colorful. They've done a great job flattening the look of the OS so it doesn't look inconsistent, and people familiar with using the iPad or iPhone can have an easier time using their Macs. They've not removed any features to do this.

The only UI inconsistency I dislike is the absence of dark windows to match the menu bar.

are you supposed to be able to tell if they even read your suggestion or problem btw? there should be a "checked" button or something so it doesnt look as pointless to report things if you cant be sure they even read it.

I have ALWAYS received a reply back on a report I've sent in.
Whether it being a request for more information or telling me it is a duplicate issue.

Also I've not used the feedback assistant, I use the bug reporting site I have used from the beginning and I try and be as specific as possible to the issue.

But isn't that for registered developers?

Yup, sure is consistent, with those window buttons everywhere, optional title bars, and a combination of flat/3D icons.

Are you serious? Judge when it's released… Or learn to see the bigger picture here. Isn't it obvious that those details you're talking about will be fixed? Talking about icon inconsistency when the OS is in beta and every two weeks there are new icons. Funny.

I agree with the OP. Even if it's not a bug but something you don't like, complain about it. If you've ever taken Safari with translucency enabled and scrolled over an image with high contrast colors, the entire top of the window can change, in my opion, into a barrage of hideous, annoying, and distracting colors. Translucency was not, once again, my opinion, a good idea.

Complain about it. Let's just hope the "designers" aren't hiding negative reports from the powers that be.

On Public Beta (and other seeding programs) you have no access to the bug reporting site, which is only for developers. Instead you have to use the Feedback Assistant, and you don't get any feedback.
