Started with 6+, 7+, 8+, XS Max, and now Pro Max.
Bought them for the bigger screen as my old eyes hurt just 'looking' at one of the smaller phones from a distance. ;)
I haven't dropped one on my face, but my chest at least once. Always use Apple Leather Case but definitely see the appeal of a Loopy case.

I have indeed dropped my XS Max on my chest, lol, not at all pleasant

I think those of us who like the large iPhones are in the minority, day in and day out I see more threads about people preferring the smaller or more medium sized units. Not at all a bad thing, just an observation.

Looking at the top selling phones, the iPhone XR and 11 are the two best sellers, so it makes sense.

Would be interesting if Apple do offer a Max sized mid end iPhone, will be interesting to see how that does sales wise, I think that’s the gap they are missing in many of the Asian markets where larger mid end phones are liked e.g. Galaxy A50 and OPPO A9 with 6.4-6.5inch displays.

iPhone 11 Max of sorts is what’s missing with a 6.5inch 1080P Display, aluminium body and Dual Cameras.

Those phones are both bigger than the 11 Pro. They’re big. They’re not selling cuz they’re smaller. They’re selling cuz they’re cheaper.

It’s not just due to price though, have you seen the overall bestselling smartphones list? All of them are around 6.1inch and above screen size. It’s not the absolute cheapest devices at all.

You have to admit though in regards to the iPhone unless you want to spent £1k on their current smallest device, you have no choice but to buy the XR or 11. I know a lot of people who own both those devices but complain they are too big. Price is a major draw when Apple has decided its mainstream consumers can only get 6.1” phones for a sensible price.

Indeed price is one of the factors but not the only factor.

The iPhone 11 despite currently costing a little more than the XR has already made it to top 5 in the best sellers within 10 days of being on sale in Q3, it should overtake the cheaper XR in Q4 sales. We’ll see.

I think what will be more telling especially in Asian markets, is it Apple bring in a larger budget mode e.g. an 11 Max or 12 Max.

Which is why in another genius stroke by Apple they're going to cross pollinate and introduce 6.1 to the Pro lineup and introduce 5.4 to the non Pro lineup. They're going to hit everyone in two broad strokes.

My wife will be happy with a smaller device if true. Her iPhone 8 is playing up and there isn’t an iPhone at a sensible price for her needs. She hates big phones.

Whilst this is good for those that are interested in those sizes, as long as Apple keep Making bigger phones I’ll be happy.

I was really excited for the XS Max, and loved having it... favourite iPhone ever I think. I have the 11 Pro Max now, gave the XS Max to the wife, but I'm starting to have second thoughts about the size.

Obviously, everyone's use case differs, but I only want to use my phone when there's no better choice (e.g. iPad, TV etc), or where its more convenient to do so (banking apps comes to mind). That means I use it almost exclusively when I'm out.

Lately I'm feeling like the Max screens aren't big enough that they make a real difference. Even an iPad Mini feels like a real screen size upgrade. I feel like you more or less see the same view in most apps and browsing on both size displays of the iPhone, just slightly downsized. It's not like you're seeing the desktop site or anything like that.

Despite that, I definitely notice how much larger the Max phones are in my pocket, and I like to go naked. I love how easily the smaller phone slips in and out of my pocket without feeling obstrusive.

Not loving the buggy experience iOS 13 has been giving me the whole time on the 11 Pro Max, and it could be that, tainting it, or maybe I'm just too idle at the moment, but I'm considering downsizing to the regular 11 Pro.

Going on two months with my first big phone the Pro Max I think I figured it out. I was always a one handed man but found that when I use two hands the phone feels normal again

There’s advantages to any device and you have to take the Cons with the Pro Max

I have an iPad mini, iPad pro 10.5 and MBA but my iphone is the device that I use the most. Its the one that I have with me the most and some times it’s just more convenient to use it. Even when I’m at home, if I’m doing casual things I prefer to use my phone. So I need it to have a decent size screen so I have a good experience doing most things.

I feel the exact same, but in reverse. That's why I don't own an iPad.

I was going to leave apple just before the they finally released bigger screen iPhones in 2014. Their stubbornness was pissing me off.

I had the 6 Plus, 7 Plus and got the X but the screen was too narrow. My current xs max is really good. I look forward to the 6.7 inch iPhone 12.

Been plus ever since the 6.
Now have the 11 Pro Max - wouldn't want a handset any bigger though - this size is perfect.

Just thought it would be cool for everyone who prefers the large screened iPhones to chime in on:

- Which one they have? and

- Why they prefer their big screen iPhone versus the others?

- Post pics

Personally have a XS Max in Space Grey, always have been a big screen phone person, and only really began having more interest in iPhones once the Plus models arrived and eventually got the XS Max as my first iPhone as the iPhone X design grew on me overtime.

Love the heft and size of the Plus and Max iPhones, they just feel right and are amongst the few larger screen smartphones that still have FLAT displays!

Here’s mine

Hope no other thread like this exists

I have the 8 Plus and i got used to the larger screen very quick, i found the size of the phone to be just a bit too much for the first 2 - 3 days with the phone but then i got used to it, it's a normal size now and i love it. Battery life is also way better. I will not ever go back to a smaller screen, well the Xr/11 would be alright but even the Xs/Pro is too small for me now and i do prefer the Max version of those and my next iPhone will definitely be an all-screen 6.5" or 6.7" one.

Problem with the Plus iPhones is that the screen-to-body ratio is only around 66%. It's just a huge phone for that (relatively) small screen of 5.5". Would have loved a Xs Max 256 GB last year when i bought the 8 Plus, but it was just too expensive for me and i couldn't justify spending 1600$ on a phone (1600$ with tax), which is the same price as a Pro Max 256 GB today. Apple Store pricing. US people are lucky, even though you still have to add the sales tax. But i'm going off-topic here...

Remember when they first released the X and claimed that it had a larger display than the Plus models? Such BS. Technically it’s longer on the diagonal, but so much narrower, and loses some area to the notch.

I’ve been using iPhones since 2011 and always hated how small the phones were until the 6+ was released. From there I’ve had the 6+, 6S+, 7+ and the X which I loved but hated the size. I used the X for 18 months before upgrading to the XS Max in March 2019. I love my XS Max and everything that it do. I just haven’t found a case that I love. I was planning on upgrading to the 11 Pro Max next month, but I may just hold onto that money and use it in September. I’ll also be upgrading my daughter’s X to whatever 11 variant they release in September.

Which case did you find if I may ask?
I am still looking into getting the Official Apple Black Leather case for my XS Max, but still like my Black Apple Silicone case.

So next year the rumored pro sizes will be 5.4 and Max 6.7. There’s rumors of a 6.1 model that will also be pro but that’s rumor too. But we know for sure there will not be a max size of 6.5.

So us max users have to decide if we are going to go up to 6.7 or down if there’s an option to 6.1.

After being at 6.5 I would hate to have a smaller screen so I hope the 6.7 size is not too large for me as I feel this 6.5 is perfect IMO.

Cannot wait for that 6.7, I’m pretty sure it won’t be too much bigger than the current 6.5, especially if they get the notch smaller and cut more of the side bezels off. It’s doable.

My first iphone was the iPhone 4 back in 2011 (yeah got it a year after release on 2nd hand market). Loved that phone and thought it was the absolute perfect size.

However when the iPhone 6 was about to be released and it was leaked that it was going to have a 4.7 in display, I was worried that it would be too big. Especially since my girlfriend at the time had a Galaxy S3 and I found that to be enormous.

Anyway still got an iPhone 6 on launch and got used to it in a few weeks; so much so that when i looked at my 4 it seemed tiny. Same story when I got my iPhone X. When I got my X, i told myself once again, this was the biggest I could possibly manage.

However, now in college, i’ve noticed more and more people have been getting the Plus/Max sized models. Especially girls, which confused me since they (typically) are smaller and have smaller hands than me (i’m 6’4). So that made me curious about the Max sized iPhone. Tried it in the Apple store and after 5 seconds I said “yeah no this is way too big. no chance” But i kept coming back every couple of weeks/months and seeing if my mind had changed.

Then during the summer, i just bit the bullet, sold my X and upgraded to the XS Max. Not going to lie, it was still a big jump. But after a week I started to love it. I was still able to one hand it pretty well (ex: pinky at bottom and reach the control center with one hand), although obviously not as well as the 5.8in X. Everything else has been amazing. I cannot go back now. So much so that I have now given my iPad to my father since it goes now unused. All I wish for now is split screen multitasking like on the Galaxy Note phones in iOS14. that would be perfect.

Want to see how the Sept2020 iPhone with its rumored 6.7in display will feel but seeing how I got used to this 6.5in display, it shouldn’t be that big of an issue. Honestly, the only thing I wish I did was upgrade to a Plus/Max sized iphone sooner.
