Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max, Monkey Island, Full Throttle and so on. But I admit, DotT was the game I was playing the most when I was young... god it was funny.

Go for RealMyst. It reportedly runs fine on Intel, and it's real "free" 3D--you can walk around at will. I really enjoyed it. And it adds one extra world to the original Myst, but otherwise replicates the puzzles and the look of the classic.
Also, this recently-released game--which I think may be the start of a series, is Monkey-Island like in its interaction IIRC:
