These days 99% of the people I see in public taking pictures are using phones. Once in a blue moon will I see someone with a pro camera but very rarely a point and shoot. What advantages do they have over a phone? For one the macro mode is a strong advantage that is as I understand only available on the pro iPhone 13 models.

At baseball games the photographers on the field are all using pro cameras but the fans once again phones.

Other advantages my Powershot has over a phone is the ability to keep my photos private and for only me. Yes I do not want everything I shoot to be on the internet. I want to choose what I want on the internet. There are more advantages my Powershot has over a phone that I cannot think of at this time. What about you what do you say?

Distinct feeling of Deja Vu here. We have been through this already. The pros on the field use bright, heavy telephoto lenses so they can get in close to the action from the edges of the playing field and also they have bodies that can do fast sustained bursts of shots to capture the action.

The fans use their phones because they are not photographers. They are fans.

However, this past weekend I went to see Scotland v Australia rugby at Murrayfield and took my RX100. The reason being, that as a fan in the stands we are not allowed a camera with a lens longer than 2 inches - for safety reasons I assume. This meant I couldnt take the Nikon and the 200-500 lens.

However, I could take my point and shoot with me to get some images of the action. Here are some examples. They may not be brilliant but from where my seat was, good luck getting something this good from a phone!

Good points. No I do not remember everything I post or read so as the education experts say repetition is good.

There's a nice search feature on the top corner of the forum where you can search by topics or username. Here you go: https://forums.macrumors.com/search/3087001/

You can go back to your threads and look up as many topics as you want without having to create a new one.

anyway, the only person who seems worried about using a p&s on this forum is you. the rest of us don't care. ? your camera obviously brings you enjoyment, so stop worrying about what the rest of us think, and just go shoot photos. and then share them. you still haven't shared many (no, 14 isn't a lot, which is how many you've shared, not including screenshots).

remember! we've talked about being nice! people here are trying to help you, even if that means guiding you to the site's search function where you can look for previous topics.

if you want help and discussion, be gracious.
Actually many have been mean and nasty to me and have been reported to the mods. Some have changed their attitude (such as you), but these are few and far in between.

I wish there was some way to post pics from the photos app.

Are you supposed to remember everything you post?
Not everything word by word, but if the average person's brain-the portion where memories are stored-is relatively in good shape, there is not trouble remembering the things we have posted or talked about in this forum. The problem I see is that some of us start multiple threads on subjects that have been discussed recently, although I am not troubled by these multiple threads, and certainly wish not to offend you.

That said, discussions as this one are published on the Internet yearly as soon as new phones and P&S cameras reach the market. The first one (below) is from B&H, and is a good read although published four years ago when the iPhone wasn't as powerful as the 3-camera iPhones of today. The last link shows an article that was published this year. Hundreds of articles relating to P&S versus cellphones can be found by an Interned search:

No it did not help. You have not used a modern P&S.
