Pokemon Go iOS/Android

Honestly I've given up on most gaming but have recently been hooked on Pokemon. There's a hotbed for rare Pokemon near me which has kept my interest alive. I also don't let this get in the way of my priorities like work, family and the gym/running. However if I'm out and about, I'm probably playing!

I confess I still play on occasion.
What I see is an abundance of Pidgeys and Rats, many Eevees and spearows, some venonants, exeggcutes, pincers, weedles, oddish, nidorans, caterpies, and very little of anything else, not nearly enough to evolve or power up. My trainer is L15, and my top Pokemon is a 1187 Vaporeon and the highest base Pokemon I've caught is a 773 Scyther. I've seen 52 and caught 51 types of Pokemon out of 136.

There's an area close to me with really rare and high level Pokemon but I'm too busy working and haven't had a chance to make it out there. I've caught 2 Pikachu's though which is pretty cool since they rarely show up. The game is fun and I can't stop playing lol.

How would people you describe the area where you see rare Pokemon? I've heard that different ones spawn in the woods, versus close to water.

I'll ask just in case, have you powered anything up? You can add 300 levels to a critter, if not more. The thing is you have to catch every Pokemon you see for the XP and stardust it gives you. As I recall the 1187 Vaperon I have started as approx a 300 Eevee and can be powered up more. I currently have a 384 Eevee I'm holding to evolve when I get enough candy.

For anyone not familiar, most Pokemon can be evolved to a higher form which requires dust and candy. They can then be powered up which is a permanent change. You get P specific candy by transferring lower level Ps to the professor. Dust is universal, received for capturing, and can be applied to any P. The higher level Ps are only a concern if you are trying to occupy a gym.

Unless you're in Houston, then the link may not help lol. However got to public areas and parks, you'll find some really good ones! BTW I'm a level 17 now 63 caught, 66 seen.

Kudos to you for still being on a 4S, I'm not sure I could do it. Also kudos to being a level 12. I'm slowly making my way to level 18! Once you get to level 15, the leveling is much slower!

My 7 year old is strongly suggesting that I download Pokémon Go for us (him) to play on my phone. Before I do, I kind of want to know what I'm getting into. From some screen shots I've seen it looks like you have a character that appears on a map. Do the Pokémon show up and then you walk to where they are to collect them? I assume that's why people keep getting hit by cars and walking off cliffs. And then after you collect them you need to walk more to feed them or hatch eggs something, right?

Just not sure I want to open this can of worms.

If you can get your kid to walk more, that's a good thing. Just be careful, just like with any other walking around.

Mostly you just walk where you want to walk and then they show up.

Damn, I need a Blissey!!! High level Blisseys are turning up in gyms all over. They are tanks and the number one gym defender. The strategy to kill it is spam attacks continuously, don't bother with much dodging. The danger is that you will run out of time during the battle. It took me two level 2400 Vaperons to take down one 2400 Blissey. Why did they do this to us?

Pokémon Go has turned Blissey into a beast and it's taking over gyms.
