The game says it doesn't know my device's orientation, preventing AR from working. Anyone else with iOS 10 experience this and is there a fix?

The fix is downgrading to iOS 9.3.2.

You are using a beta app on a beta operating system. Not a good time.

Same happens for me, and plenty of crashes, and plenty of can't connect to server issues. I think I'll just have to wait rather than try to play with the frustration.

It's not a beta app. It's version 1.0 on the AppStore. But you're right, it is a problem with iOS 10, which is why I started this thread, to see if everyone else was experiencing this and if there was a fix.

So far its worked fine for me except for the AR, I had to turn that off. I'll be able to test it better later tonight and tomorrow when I have the time to run around town hitting up Pokestops and Gyms.

AR worked on beta 2 for me last night. i think their servers are getting hammered too. now its not connecting again

No issues for me. I have ios 10 public beta and iPhone 6 plus and it runs fine, besides the pokemon server errors been running excellent for me. I wiped my phone completely before I put ios 10 on.

The Augmented Reality doesn't work for me either. It shows the camera but no Pokemon appear on the screen. I threw a pokeball and captured the invisible pokemon though...

Do you mean that you are running beta and sometimes you see the pokemon and sometimes you don't? I do get the cant read orientation problem.

I sometimes get the message about not being able to detect the phone's orientation and it offers to turn off the AR.
If I turn the AR back on I was able to see multiple Pokemon but never Growlithe for some reason.
My son with 9.3.2 also can not see Growlithe with his AR.

They were having server problems yesterday so maybe that's related to it although I am also having the orientation problem

I've got it running on my iPhone 6s on iOS 10 and iPhone 5c on iOS 9.3. On iOS 10, it's very temperamental, which is to be expected. Even on iOS 9.3, it's messy though, constantly getting 'No GPS signal' despite it working for over an hour in the same position in my flat, next to the window. There's still bugs to be worked out!

No AR for me either. AR can be turned off which makes it easier to catch Pokemon anyway. Just not as much fun. Also low power mode doesn't activate either for me (where you can turn the phone upside down and the display dims).

I enjoy this game so much, I may have to roll back to IOS 9, because AR does not work at all for me, and I doubt it will work until the final version of IOS 10 is released in September.

I didn't install the game until yesterday evening since I just figured it wouldn't work on iOS 10 beta 2, but it's been fine for me. Only once the AR didn't quite work correctly, but otherwise it's good.

Finally jumped on the crazy train that is Pokemon Go today. So far AR hasn't worked for me either.

I went back to iOS 9 for this reason. Also replying in forums proved sucky because the page goes to the bottom when hitting the backspace key.

I've jumped on the Pokémon go bandwagon by using the region workaround since I'm in the UK. AR doesn't work for me but I just have that turned off so not a total game breaker, managed to catch 16 Pokémon in a walk round the block.

The AR problem is definitely something to do with the APIs or something for Orientation. I noticed some VR/Cardboard apps don't work, and YouTube "Cardboard" mode is nearly completely broken. Not all, just a few.
