The problem is with Samsung unlike Apple is that they aren't great at handling international warranty and whereas if I imported an iPhone from USA and it went array, Apple would have no issue fixing it. If you import a Samsung device from outside your territory they will usually tell you that you need to deal with Samsung in that territory or with the seller. They don't seem to honour international warranties unless you are lucky.

So whilst I totally agree with you, they should take them back without question, I imagine this ridiculous bureaucratic warranty process will prevent some from being able to.

Apple worldwide warranty isn't worldwide ... https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4049298?tstart=0

Summary: No Apple stores in India means no service in India. You have to deal with the store you bought it from.

Actually some are doing it on Purpose one college kid on Twitter or Youtube Got Samsung To Replace His MacBook Pro or pay for it because his Note 7 exploded and Damaged the MacBook Pro

Soon people will be deliberately claiming damage on Purpose to have Samsung pay for damaged items

Even if true (and I'm skeptical) the mere fact that you could bring on, cause your device to explode using or charging it emphasises the problem here.

However I am skeptical of legitimacy anything by 'college kid' and further more 'twitter' in the same sentence. ;)

Is that because Apple have no warranty support for India generally ? I see that was 2012. In which case you can't expect Apple to service a product in a country they don't sell to or have a retail presence in themselves.

From my own experience I have bought iPhones and iPads (and even Mac hardware) from outside of the country (North America and Europe) and had no problems getting warranty service when something went wrong or even purchasing additional Apple Care on them.

From reading warranty service info here as long as there is Apple retail / presence services in the country you are in, they will service the item if bought from outside.

Samsung don't extend to doing this. I've had to pay for service on a new device because it was bought out of the country (outside of EU) despite it being only a few weeks old and well within warranty periods.

Samsung's questionable "ethics" are inflammatory enough to warrant my never EVER wanting to touch their phones, let alone a potentially flaming one that could explode and cause injury or death. Nope, no thanks - there's a lot of weight in choosing your company based upon their respect, morality and customer service, and I have heard too many stories... pfttt... why am I wasting ascii... end of.

Seriously, if anyone thinks Samsung is going to allow any of the carriers to deny people a replacement or for those people who purchased their Note 7's through places like Swappa or Ebay to get one, they're crazy. They would be opening themselves up repeatedly to litigation. Right now Samsung has a room of lawyers doing everything they can to minimize their liability. Even those people who already cracked their screen, I'm sure they're not gonna deny them a new phone.
Yep, my husband cracked his first screen ever and it happened to be the Note7's screen. One day before the informal recall was announced. AT&T store took it back after a manager approved the return as a formality. (He just glanced at it and nooses to the clerk to process the return. Hubby took an S7Edge and I took an S7. We will trade those back in when the Note7 is back in stock.

If I use my S7 outdoors in the summer heat (even in the shade) it heats up like a hibachi coal. That sucker is going back! My iPhones don't do that. Hell, my Note 7 didn't even do that! Jiminy Christmas, Samsung!

What are you talking about? I've never really heard anything other than they copy Apple a lot and have some obnoxious commercials and allegedly pat people to troll Apple fans on forums. They're kind of wishy washy handling the S7 Active problems but did acknowledge them and supposedly will at least do warranty repairs. Sort of on a par with Apple "Touch Disease." That's about all I know about them...oh and they made the chip in my SE and 6SPlus.

I praise Apple for the small everyday issues, like signal or speaker issues I had with my iPhone, and like the touchpad issue I had on a previous MB. But on bigger issues I had to deal with, like the screen coating peeling off on my previous MBP, Apple gave me hell and tried to brush me off. And I didn't even know it was a big issue until I visited their own forums.
