Are you getting random black screens with your 2012 mac mini (yes or no)?

I thought this would be a good way to see what percentage of owners are having this problem. No doubt that the problem is real and that it lies within the mini itself and not what kind of adapter or cable or monitor you are using. I'm lucky so far that I haven't had this problem... yet.

I'm like you - not yet. I'm half expecting issues, though, judging by the problems others are having.

Update: I got the black screen problem, snow/static and a distinctly violet hue to the screen with HDMI to HDMI on a Samsung LED HDTV. This happened only after ten or eleven days' worth of use on the Mac Mini with no issues visible beforehand.

I can't prove it but my feeling is that I started getting the issues after I'd woken the Mini from sleep. For most of the time prior to my problems, I'd been leaving the Mini on. It could, of course, just be a coincidence, though.

Had blank/snow effect few times, but only If watching videos. Also having colour profile/calibration issues. Received MacMini on Tues (30th Oct.), first blank screen happened Sunday (4th Nov.).
Using High speed Belkin PureAV White Series HDMI > HDMI cable to LG M2382D Monitor/TV

No. Using an ACD directly connected to the Thunderbolt (Mini Display Port) port.

I think it'd be important to say what connector and adapter (if) we are using.

Yes

YES! Daily.. it's annoying.. But usually happens in the first 15 minutes of working.. and then is fine.

Daily through HDMI to a Sony Playstation 3D Display, also within hours of setting up the new machine I found that I had corrupt color calibration profiles. I've ran all diagnostics verified disk, verified permissions etc all check out fine machine seems to be running fine once I fixed the corrupt files other than the random black screens and once a random light blue screen.

Will try to watch a video (full screen?) in some minutes...

OK. Played an HD 720p AAC video file during 10 minutes with Quicktime. No problems whatsoever.

Had to stop it. I've seen it already and I gotta do other stuff, lol

I don't think can change the poll to allow us to change our vote. It's becoming obvious that move than half of the mini's are having this problem.
Only 32 new mac minis?Or only 32 are having(or getting interested in) this problem and they look this topic?

At this moment 21 have the problem and 12 don't. The poll is about 12 hours old. The mini has been out about 2 weeks. It is true that if you have a problem with a product you own you are more likely to go online to look for a solution and respond to the poll. I also think that macrumor readers are a smart group and they understand that a poll like this is to help each other get our hands around the scope of this problem and that voting yes or no (if you don't have the problem) is important for accuracy.

I think that 32 votes in 12 hours is pretty good response for a product that has been out for only 2 weeks. Some have only just got their machines in the last couple of days and may want to give it more run time to see if they run into the problem or not. Let's hope Apple gets on top of this and issues a fix soon. My personal opinion is that the problem is with hardware but the fix will be in software. The hardware will be corrected for future machines (eco).

Not yet. I've been having issues with calibration via HDMI... DVI cable appears to provide better quality. Generally happy with the computer, but still pondering returning it for a slower iMac simply because of the display issue (and marginally because I'd rather have non-integrated graphics in general for the mild gaming I'm likely to do).

I voted once, but I have 2 Minis with this problem. My wife's does the 1-2 second black screen and mine will go black anywhere from 5 to 45 minutes. Pretty sure they're the same root cause, but who knows.

I switched from the included HDMI/DVI cable to an mDP/DVI cable this evening and hope that fixes it for now. So far so good.

I was under the impression that the people who are using hdmi are the ones getting snow/black screen and those using the thunderbolt port are not. that is what seemed to be the case while reading the black screen thread.

I think I've only seen 1 post so far from someone using the TB port that is having problems. The rest are using the HDMI port.

Yep, getting them regularly. I am hooked in via HDMI to a 27" LG monitor. Thought it might be the cable and went and purchased a nice Sony cable. It does it with that one also, so it appears to be a Mac Mini problem.

I've seen it twice. Once last week and once last night. Last night I was booted off the original hard drive still on 10.8.1 (had pulled the SSD in preparation for warranty service on my headphone jack). I don't remember if the first time was booted off the hard drive or the SSD with 10.8.2.

Connected to Acer 22" screen via HDMI-to-DVI adapter and DVI-to-DVI cable.

In the first hour with my new mini, I have had twice the black screen with the HDMI - DVI adaptor. Then I change to minidisplayport to DVI and not seen more problems in 6 hours.
