It would really help users (like myself) who are on the fence about buying a new Macbook Pro with Touch Bar, if we could get an HONEST poll of users who own them, and if they have any of the issues mentioned.

If your purpose in this thread is to troll or skew the poll to your agenda, PLEASE DON'T. We need to keep this thread to users who own the new machines, and it is not helpful to anyone if you try to skew the results in any way.

I've compiled a list of the most common problems seen so far.

It would be great if this could be made into a sticky post?
[doublepost=1480585330][/doublepost]Also, feel free to chime in if there's any more things you can think of for me to add to the poll.

Mine has been perfectly fine except that first time i logged in after unboxing and clesn installing sierra it was a graphic glitch on login screen, then i restarted and did smc reset and pram reset and it has never happened again. Played overwatch for 4 hours last night in bootcamp and was impressed by how low temperature it went to and that the fans wasnt loud at all compared to my old 2012 rmbp :)

All graphic issues I've seen so far are most likely software. 10.12.2 should shed some light on this.

I've been actually amazed how cool the computer stays during use; not even remotely as warm as MacBook air for most tasks.

Otherwise it's been flawless so far... 2016, 15", 460, 1tb space grey (if this matters to you)

You should really add an "other" to the poll.

Agreed, you definitely need an "other" option... I will be getting my 3rd 13" model tomorrow.

The first one had a faulty keyboard key.

The second one has a dead iSight camera.

If the 3rd one I pick up tomorrow has ANOTHER problem.. I will be returning for good and waiting for the next model.

Really hoping the update resolves the login glitches I get on my 13" TB. Glitches continue after log in and require a restart to resolve...until they happen again.

OP, you’ll never get a clear statistical picture. 9 times out of 10, the only people that come here are coming to complain. The ultra-high percentage of happy users (with no problems) are off doing other things. Just sayin’...

I am severely disappointed with the 2016 MBP. I have the $2799 15" TB variant, AMD 455 graphics card, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD. Manufacture date 10/22/2016 with Simpo battery, 4 cycles. I am getting a discharge rate of 28 watts as shown on CoconutBattery while typing this if that helps anyone.

The screen is beautiful and the laptop is thin. The keyboard is better than expected.

However, every time I open the lid there is a vertical multicolor line on the login screen.

I have had several crashes out of the Photos app simply looking at photos taken with my iPhone.

The battery life is dismal - I haven't installed any software, and am using the laptop straight out of the sealed box. I get about 3 hours of battery life while web surfing with full WiFi signal, and 70% brightness.

After watching some videos recorded with my GoPro, I get severe graphic errors with weird colors on the right half of the screen. They go away if I switch around a bunch of applications or close the lid.

There are some serious software and/or hardware concerns with this unit - not ready for prime time IMHO. This is a big departure from the iPhone and other Macs I've owned where I expect things to work perfectly out the box for many years.

I can't justify a $2799 laptop with any flaws like this one. I'm paying a $1,000 premium over comparable laptops and I expect everything to work without graphic errors, crashes, and <3 hrs battery life with extremely light usage.

FAIL!

PS - The fact that a $9 USB-C to USB 3.0 adapter is not included in the box adds insult to injury. That's the price we pay and the thanks we get for being early adopters!

Yeah im impressed by the cooling fans too, i think its because many compnents are low wattage designs.

Did you try a clean reinstall of sierra? If i have automatic graphic switching system on i get 8-9 hours battery. But if i use amd card only its 3-4 hours. So maby you have a bug that the amd card is in use even though the computer thinks it off orsomething

While my own experience is not indicative of everyone else's, I suspect I'm in the silent majority.

First, I had a stock base 13" non-tb for two weeks - it was perfect in every way.

Presently, I have a stock 15" 2.7/512/455 - it also thus far is perfect.

No graphical issues with the dGPU in the one main app (Osirix) I use that taxes the GPU (I do not use Adobe CC apps, FYI). No wobbly TouchID button, no trouble with an external display (only used it with a 27" Apple Thunderbolt Display thus far, though). Battery life has been within spec - uses 6-11w while during basic Safari use. Machine doesn't run hot in any way. Display has perfectly acceptable uniformity & brightness. The only minor issues I've seen are with regard to a couple of software bugs in Mail and occasionally Safari with regard to the touch bar, but that's definitely not a hardware issue. Oh, and a nagging issue with Time Machine/Time Capsule which is a Sierra issue and not specific to this machine (which I've worked around by using Carbon Copy Cloner instead).

No I'm using it straight out of the box. I assumed it comes from the factory with a fresh OS installation. The energy manager has never indicated to me that the GPU is being used. I have not installed or used any apps thus far that would require a GPU (only Safari & Photos).

What is the manufacture date for those who are NOT having issues? I wonder if I got an early unit that had a manufacturing problem.

There are so many OCD trolls here on MR right now, I don't even trust this poll. I've encountered several people that I am pretty sure have outright lied about owning one just to legitimize their "issues". One guy I outright busted when I took the time to look at his posting history.

Yeah but can always be problems during install that the chinese workers maby dont care about, and bugs seem random, some get them and some dont, so its always worth it to do a clean install yourself to see if theres any difference

I voted perfect, cuz while there have been a few glitches they arent as serious as the other options sound.
I guess I could put down battery issues, but im not having too much trouble, not like the 3-4 hours people have seen

All I've seen are software problems mostly desling with sleep:
The system locks up if i leave my NAS connected when MBP goes to sleep.
If it sleeps with Safari running it might not wake.
Duet prevented sleep or crashed it.

Nothing that I feel would necessitate a hardware return.

That's nonsense. Why should they add a USB-C to USB adapter? I don't need any such. The only one I need is a USB-C to HDMI. They can't please everyone. I paid 4k for this machine, I don't care if I have to buy dongles for 50 bucks. I did that once and now I don't think about it anymore. But if the money is a burden for you or you think they acted arrogant, then you maybe better should return the machine and switch to some other brand. Apple is not for everyone.

Not saying you're not having issues, but I think there's some other cause than a design flaw.
My 15" 2.7/512/455:

Xraydoc, those are some impressive numbers. I wish mine worked like that, mine must be a dud. I never said design flaw, perhaps it's a manufacturing defect on some early units (like mine). Regardless it's going back. Just one more data point for Apple to improve their process.

No, no. I'm not suggesting you said design flaw. Those are my words. But the variation people in these forums have is quite striking. I'm wondering why that is (as are everyone else). If it's not a misbehaving piece of software, I don't know what else it could be other than a design/hardware issue with a certain subset of machines.

But you should definitely exchange the machine if you can and see what happens with the new one. Start with the virgin software out of the box, then add your apps one at a time to see if there's a certain software that's causing it.

How do you do a "clean install" if the computer doesn't come with the software externally?

Also, do you guys think there can be a difference in machines ordered from day 1 and ones ordered a couple months after? In other words, could apple give the factories new directives based on early problems?

I voted for these 2:

13" - Graphical Glitches (either at login or when under heavy load
13" - Poor battery performance (sub 7 hours) under "normal" usage

My 13" TB glitches out every so often at log in but I don't see any issues after logging in. My battery life has not been as bad as some others but I am only getting about 6 1/2 hours..
