In the context of my current personal uses, I voted Mac, because my needs just aren’t that power hungry, and I prefer MacOS. Having said that, I’m perfectly comfortable with Windows 11 and my Dell XPS 9510, so if my needs radically changed, and the only way I could get the power I needed was to switch over to Windows as my primary system, I would do it without regret.

You are waaaay overthinking this. Let me know if this is going out as a press release.

My understanding is it’s a fun survey on a tech forum for the OP’s own curiosity. It is therefore entirely to OP how he phrases it and how he interprets it. If it turns out OP is using this to get published in the media, I’ll join you in pointing out why the evidence is flawed.
This is only for fun.

Mac and I will install Windows onto it.

As long as Apple is not capable making an OS that enables me to manipulate files in the file tree easily, I prefer Explorer.

I don't like Windows, but glad you chose Mac :)

TBH, I love macOS so much that I would always stick with a Mac. I just love it and it makes me very productive, much more than I ever was on Windows.
I completely agree......😁
There is a totally different 'vibe' when working on MacOS, it is just enjoyable.

Well, maybe it is just me who dont gets how the Finder is supposed to be used.
An OS does a lot of things but from the user perspective his only role is to let me do the following:
- access files,
- manipulate files and directories them (copy, delete, move),
- navigate the tree structure of the filesystem.
With Finder I dont know how to navigate where I want to go. Yes, I can do it step by step, clicking my way trough the tree, but where can I introduce the path from where I am to where I want to go? I already know exactly where I want to land, so no use to search for it with Spotlight.
It is also very annoying that I can not go one level up in the tree. It is not for nothing that every other OS have a special command for this. (cd..)
This two solved an I can work with it.
The problem of ctrl+x/v for cutting that many windows user face is not really a problem, but for the above two I have not found a solution so far. I would be happy to replace Finder completly, if it is not capable to solve those two issues; already tried to use FM, Dolphin and similar file managers, but Finder always rises his head when programs access the FS (be it only for open or save a file).

Mac every time. I can emulate Windows if I need it and I play games on an XBox Series S & PS5.

Is this while using Finder?

View/Show Path Bar

Then you get a bar at the bottom showing the path to where you are. You can click up one level there.

Or is this using the save dialogue?

If so, you can click the path button below the filename box and select up one level there.

Alternatively/additionally, you can add a Path button to the Finder window toolbar — right-click near the top of a Finder window, choose Customize Toolbar...

Furthermore, addressing the mention of CLI (i.e. "cd ..”), you can enter a path manually via Finder -> Go (menu) -> Go to Folder… The shortcut is Shift + Command + G
I realize it’s not as convenient as the editable path input in the Explorer toolbar. However, it does provide similar functionality.

Nice one, I didn't know that button was available, thanks.

And when saving.

Yes, I have that. It works for some versions of MacOS. (El Capitan and above if I remember correctly.)

Or is this using the save dialogue?

I also know that. But it is exactly the point, it is inconsistent. And it is not the only inconsistency in MacOS.

If I just could fix that input field that appears when I press Shift-Command-G permanently in the Finder, that would be perfect. Lets say just adiacent to the Spotlight search field.
