thanks archipellago but i dont believe all apple products are that bad, i know that you loathe them which is fair enough and im sure you have your reasons,

i personally would rather stick with apple as a whole but avoid the imacs

That's a great idea. At least you'll still have a Quad core Mac and you'll have more expansion options. The Cinema Display is very nice, I wish they had it in a 30" version as well. Enjoy. :)

thanks dan :)

30" is too much for me thats for sure!!!! the 24" would be perfect for me to be fair and would compromise between the display options

to be honest ive been bothered by the imacs lack of expansion, mainly graphics, hard disk etc plus the fact they clearly have some major issues and i dont see them being particularly reliable in the not too distant future either, maybe (hopefully) i'll be wrong!

ive also been told to wait until jan 27th as its highly likely apple will refresh the mac pros, knowing my luck id buy one tomorrow and there would be an even more awesome one out in a weeks time for the same money!!!

You need to fix the poll options. There are many people who have only had less than 3 iMacs and were obviously not happy. So if you had only one iMac, but decided to keep it despite if it was defective, what do you vote?

What about those people that are on their 3rd, but gave up afterwards (hence, not a charm)?

And then there's the people who got a nice one on their 4th. And others still stuck with a defect after their 5th.

I wrote a theory about why exchanging iMacs in Apple Stores is very different than exchanging through an online order. I think the real random draw comes from the online delivery, where as if you exchange at the same store, you would likely be getting another draw from the same bad batch. (It won't matter if you are on your 7th replacement if all of the iMacs in that batch carried a defective display or HD).

Good man. We've had the same number of machines, and going for the same option! I'm picking up a 2.93Ghz Quad, 6GB RAM, ATi 4870, 640GB HDD, AirPort and Wireless Keyboard/Magic Mouse. Apple are fronting some of the upgrade cost, but I'm having to pay some of it as the Mac Pro is worth a fair chunk of change more than the iMac.

cool, whats the odds on your ACD having the yellow tinge?

even money...?

;)

thing i si quite fancy this for when i want to use it with my mbp, the 30" is too big and unnecessary for me to be honest.

shame they only offer 2 models, but im within my rights to ask to look at it arent i?

don't know..legally, but with what you've been through I think its the least you should ask for.

and if they won't..then what are they hiding.?
