I use it all the time. It's faster to just flick once to the left and start typing a friends name and then select it that way to text/call them. It's much faster then going into contacts and then scrolling through them. Plus this way you can put the contacts app onto your last page and leave the first page open for something more useful.

I also use it a lot for apps that I know are on one of my last couple pages but I'm not exactly sure which one. It's easier to just flick once to the left and start typing the name until it comes up.

I'm actually shocked how little people use this feature. It truly is great.

Sometimes

I use universal search to open apps that I don't use everyday so I don't have to flip from page to page (not that flipping pages is hard but I'm kinda lazy). I never use it to look for emails and such. I find it just as easy to go to Mail and look for whatever email I need.

I never use it simply because I know where everything is on my phone. Maybe it could be useful for people that forget what applications or emails they get, but I don't think many people will be doing that if they invested in an iPhone.

When I did have a Mac, I used it frequently so I could find my personal files or term papers quickly. Since you can't really edit the amount of different documents compared to a computer (save it, I know about the applications), I see no use for this feature. For things like term papers on my iPhone, I used Evernote to look through my papers.

Not often but very useful

I don't use it very often but it is very useful to search in my thousands of professional e-mails. Without this function , I would have kept my blackberry.
