Since we seem to be pretty far from Face ID under screen tech (not just the camera but the entire Face ID assembly), but Touch ID on power button or under screen tech is here or pretty close, I’m wondering which full screen compromise do people prefer these days for Face ID, or is Face ID not worth the compromise at all if Touch ID can now achieve true full screen?

Let’s assume Touch ID is standard with all options to keep this less about Face ID vs Touch ID. It’s more about people’s preference regarding how to handle Face ID.

edit-
I thought I was clear but maybe I wasn’t. This is not a Face ID vs Touch ID thread. This is a “what’s your preference between full screen and different (non full screen) Face ID implementations based on present technology”. Vote for your preference and if you don’t care then move along. Don’t try to hijack this thread with your personal vendettas.

The notch is a non-issue for me and I haven't missed Touch ID for one second. If the notch gets smaller then great but I don't care if it doesn't.
Why didn’t you vote for the notch? Two votes so far and none for the notch. Vote!

I don’t mind the notch and I wish Apple would bring something like this to the iPhone.

True Full Screen > Literally anything else.

You may be used to the notch, but you can't possibly convince me that a true full-screen display isn't objectively superior (as long as there is no compromise with the front camera quality).

Would love to have the Touch ID incorporated into the screen

The dent in my car door doesn't bother me.
The peeling paint on my yard fence doesn't bother me.
Commuting in traffic doesn't bother me.
The neighbor's dog barking all night doesn't bother me.
The iPhone notch doesn't bother me..

Not giving up FaceID for TouchID. Get the FaceID under the screen and it'll be a truly next gen device, no going backwards, I don't want to have to find just the right angle to make TouchID work again.

Notch truly doesn’t bother me.
Personally I just can’t wait for battery tech to improve so we can have a 4mm thick device that looks like the iPhone 12/13/14 with the same or better battery life.

Notch doesn’t bother me at all, I think a punch hole would look even dumber. But I don’t and never will understand peoples obsession with touch id.

have had it, never worked as well as faceID. Don’t miss it.

Wow people getting defensive and reading things that are not there. This is not a Face ID vs Touch ID thread. I thought I was clear but maybe I wasn’t. I think that’s pretty much the bezel option in the poll, just a super thin version. That thin would be great but I don’t think it’s possible right now technologically. Just going off of what’s possible right now for this poll.

Yep, does it matter? If so, why people still bought billions devices?

You assume full screen is only possible without FaceID but it’s not. Maybe not this year, but in the near future.
I don’t assume. Face ID with full screen is not a present tech reality, and that’s what I’m basing this poll on.

True full screen with Face ID + under screen Touch ID. But I’d settle for a hole punch.

Full screen > hole punch > notch

if you didn’t want to talk about Touch ID why did you put Touch ID on every poll option lol

I liked Samsung's design of the hole punch off to the side, which they moved to the middle unfortunately in later models. Apple doesn't seem like the company that would consider that idea and the full screen with under display camera leaves photos looking off. Best bet would be built into the top bezel.

I always figured touch id would be built into the power button but forgot it wouldn't work with cases. Smaller notch is welcomed for sure (was hoping the 12 would have gotten it).

Guess I will wait for the 14 series.

Seriously? Precisely so people would NOT think this is a “choose between Face ID or Touch ID” poll, “except if absolutely necessary (to get true full screen)”.

I swear people get so “triggered” every time their precious Face/Touch ID is even mentioned and they bring years of baggage from previous arguments into it. I’m starting to regret this poll.

True full screen definitely requires compromising front camera quality.

Hole punch only makes sense if most sensors can go under-screen. It’s not like the display area around 4 hole punches would be usable screen estate anyway.

True, a good front camera would need a hole punch/notch/bezel even without other Face ID sensors. Hmm I guess for this poll, we’re either accepting a weak camera or just not taking that into account.
I’m not sure if it would be a small hole punch for each Face ID sensor or one big one with all the sensors crammed in. Probably the latter would be better as long as it’s not too big.
