What CPU did you order?

According to my test results , my 28 Core upgrade is a little over twice as fast as my factory 8 Core , with GB5 . I strongly suspect the benchmark is understating the punch of all those extra cores . The memory I currently have installed is not six channel optimized yet . Working on it ... and we'll see what relative difference that makes between the two extreme configs . These results are from the same Mac .

8 Core W-3223 .

I'm getting 15,800 on my 16c. Crazy huh?

Here it is, but I have processes for work I can't stop. As you can see the CPU is active during this bench mark, and my ram is out of balance. The 16c can get really close to 16,000. Its really a good value.

Yes , I'm a System Builder . I build and service computers . It was an used processor from China I paid $4500 for . I going over it with a fine tooth comb to make certain its the real deal .

Wow! $4,500 for "USED" and from "CHINA" too!!

For me, any of those words would be a contraindication, but both is a double no no!!!

On top of the risk you have to take, you have to install it yourself (but since you are a system builder, that's okay) and fingers cross that everything checks out...

And finally, knowing that you paid $4,500 makes me feel much better about paying $5,250 for my upgrade to get a New and Genuine (not have to use a fine-tooth comb ) & Apple Care on it too.

Many thanks!!!!

OK , finally ! I upgraded the memory in my MP7,1 and it made a world of difference with System performance .

I went from a 2.5 GHz 28 Core with factory 32GB memory ( 4 x 8GB ) to an aftermarket 96GB ( 6 x 16GB ) memory kit and activated six channel memory optimization .

The modules are Crucial model MTA18ASF2G72PDZ-2G9 .

And just went to the top of the class 😄 . This score is higher than the 28 Core in the official list of Mac Pro 7,1 GB5 results at Primate Labs .

Thats more like it! I was beginning to feel REALLY good about my 16-core, but the 28 core with balanced ram is a monster. I will definitely be upgrading mine in about a year (when the warranty expires) :)

Here is Geek Bench 5 with all 12 sticks of 32gb balanced. Not bad for a 16 core!
