The 6s is probably the most capable "old" iPhone of all time. Pretty amazing device given that it is over 6 years old and still supports iOS 15. The A9 was lightyears better than the previous chip in the 6 (basically a repackaged 5s) and the 2gb of ram make it useable today. It also has 3d touch and a headphone jack for the old timers who prefer those features (I love 3d touch).

Probably iPhone XR, because so many people here thought the rumor couldn't be true.

We heard ridiculous arguments like "they can't cut a notch in LCD" and "no one would buy LCD." It turned out to be the best selling smartphone around the world in 2019.

More importantly, it was affordable, had Face ID, and a big battery. It was simply what the mass market wanted.
Yup. Still using mine as I type. Love my XR.

iPhone 4 Hands Down! Ahead of it's time.

I have one around, put together by 3 iPhone 4‘s that had different problems and have been used by different people, including me, my mom, my godfather, my other godfather and the mom of one of them (handed down). It’s pretty much useless as it runs iOS 7 and doesn’t support Apple Music, iTunes Remote and other necessary apps. But I can’t let go of it, I sometimes take it out just to look at it and appreciate how genius it was and still is, and how damn important it’s been for the industry and Apple. How different would the world be without a Galalxy S4?
How different would it be without the iPhone 4? That’s all I gotta say.

3GS—the first “good” iPhone. Brought with it copy&paste and the App Store.

7Plus—great battery, finally no more home button to constantly break, and a good matte black option.

11 Pro—the X-13 models have all been largely the same IMO, but that green on the 11 Pro was so good.

Orginal SE (2016). I'd still be using it if the battery hadn't died during lockdown, when I couldn't get it repaired. I now have a 2020 SE and it works fine, but the smaller size was more convenient, and I had affection for the original SE that I just don't for its successor, somehow.

Really don’t get the love and obsession that the 6S gets around here, it was surely one of the most boring and minor updates, with its one new feature now deprecated

I’d go with

5 - was the absolute peak time for having the latest iPhone, and it looked very different to the 4 and 4S so everyone knew you had it

XR - love the colours, such a beautiful design. A modern 5C and as cool as that, but much more capable. First Face ID phone I had

13 - on paper it’s not a huge upgrade over the 12, but man the battery life is insane. It just won’t die in a day, whatever you throw at it. First iPhone I’ve had that feels it will last the day no matter what. I can rely on it. Just feels so much more solid than the 12, very high quality in all the most important areas. Couple of nice design changes too so it’s instantly obvious it’s a 13. Lovely pink colour

Not dishonourable mentions as such but the 6 and the 12 are perhaps my least favourites out of the iPhones I’ve had

4 -> 4S -> 5 -> 5C -> 6 -> 7 -> XR -> 12 -> 13

For me

1. 6S/6S Plus - Last iPhone where you could literally feel the difference in performance coming from the previous generation. Doubling of ram to 2gb gave this iPhone insane longevity, granting relevance even till today.

2. iPhone XR - New form factor, new authentication system, new gestures, more vertically space, popping colours all at a reasonable price. The iPhone for the masses, that had a bigger screen, more battery life and better low light portraits compared to it’s more expensive sibling the iPhone XS. The success of this iPhone is probably the reason we now have so many colour options. The iPhone that made iPhones “fun”.

3. iPhone 13 Pro Max - This is the everything including kitchen sink variation of the iPhone. A culmination of everything that power users have been craving in pass generations lumped into a single iPhone. Starting with an enhanced version of the chipset featuring an upgraded version of the GPU compared to the regular iPhones, the first time such a distinction has been made between the Pro and regular models. The most improved camera hardware in a single generation, also the most versatile. The biggest, brightest screen on an iPhone along with 120Hz ProMotion, it’s the first iPhone that feels more fluid in a single generation since the 6S, mainly due to the improved display tech rather than pure performance improvements. The biggest battery ever in an iPhone boosting true yet unbelievable all day battery life. Also the first iPhone to feature 1TB of storage space. Workhorse of an iPhone, and go to iPhone for any iPhone power enthusiast.

Being male and carrying my phone in a pocket, I don't like large phones. Hence, if Apple made a Mini Pro it would be the ultimate phone for me. Currently I have a 13 Pro and I find it a bit too thick and heavy to my liking but I tolerate it for its camera.

Would have put SE 1st gen if it was on there… please add the SE models.

(Not in any particular order)
1. iPhone 4- was a radical redesign, looked amazing compared to the rounded lump of plastic that was the iPhone 3GS
2. iPhone XR- the perfect phone for me, works great, good battery life, faceid, and no ridiculous price
3. iPhone 13 (mini)- the one I want!

iPhoneSE (1st gen) for me as well. So easy to hold, easy-peasy one-handed operation, solidly built, and best of all, still today does everything it did six years ago. Also runs v15.3 with no issues. And wait for it…still have the original battery with a full day’s use available. Gotta love this iPhone.

The most iconic Apple phones are probably the 4 and the 5. I have a 12 Mini but I reckon the 13 Mini, for me at least, would be my favourite iPhone. It is basically the 5 upgraded for the new decade… an absolute master piece of engineering.

I had a 6 and an 8 and the curvy edges drove me nuts
I hate the rounded edges of the iPhone 6 and up.

When it launched, I got a 6s Plus and it was the only iPhone in my collection that I ever sold. Too large and bulky. Hard to take one handed photos.

One of the strangest things about it was the phone would "pop" out of my hand when I would grip it sometimes. I think it was due to the rounded edges and smooth aluminum, and it was worse in the winter time when I would get dry skin on my hands.

I got an SE1 as soon as the 128GB storage models launched, sold the 6s Plus, and am still using the SE1 today. When it dies, I will most likely get the 13 Mini.

Why did you group all the iPhone 13s together, but not the other models?

Also, why no iPhone SE1 or SE2?
It only allowed me to enter 20 options, so I had to exclude those, and group sizes together. You can still (as a comment) use SE 1 or SE 2
