Hey I was looking to buy an iPad Pro 12.9 but after hearing all the rumors of that leaked iPad Pro 2 that is supposedly coming September, I am not sure now if I should wait.
Thanks :)

I need one for school but i don't mind waiting a bit.
Thanks.

If Apple do update the 12.9" iPP it will be a minor refresh things like faster processor, true tone display & better camera... if those things seem important to you then by all means wait.

IMO, if you can find a good discount on a iPP then go for it... I have the 12.9" iPP and a minor refresh will not appeal to me at all. All I care about is refinements to iOS for the iPad.

Ya I hope they make more adjustments to iOS for the iPad Pro. I
Those things do matter to me a bit I guess. It's more about value as soon as a new one comes out the old one drops value a lot.

No credible rumors that v2 will be released in Sept.

I'm waiting also, but I can wait however long it takes.

I doubt any new iPad will come in September. More likely it'll be in late October or November.

I don't think we will see an updated pro until next year, so if you need one now get one now. They have been heavily discounted almost since release.

what Rumor? There is no rumor. If you're talking about some guy holding chinese version of 9.7..that's false alarm. If you see a leak parts...okay..then wait.

I'm holding till September. The possibility of a new IPP 12.9 is a deal breaker for me this September. Even if the update isn't anything major buying the first gen IPP 12.9 and a new refreshed version releasing shortly after will make me extremely salty. I'm optimistic we will see a refreshed 12.9 since it was announced last September anyway. I'm also hoping for a updated and improved Apple Pencil. Also for all we know this updated Pencil may only work on the new screen exclusive to the new IPP 12.9.

Just some random thoughts, I'm okay to wait till September as I'm not needing a IPP right away. I'm only interested in the 12.9 to use as a drawing tablet.

I can imagine how people will ask the same question when September arrives with no refresh. I guess some people aren't serious buyers.

Well we don't know anything yet, it could be that it's upgraded in March with the smaller model so there is consistency in features. The only rumors have been MacRumors saying that a 12GB 9.7-inch iPad is a 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2. Since that was likely a new iPad regardless of size, it's possible that both models could be updated this Fall.

You could wait but if they aren't announced you may be tempted to wait until March.

I know for sure if there is no update released in September I'm purcashing then.

I'm pretty sure that the "leaked" photos are bogus. They look like a 9.7" iPad to me. I will be pretty surprised if we see a new iPad Pro this year. IMO it is more likely to be early next year.

I'm going overseas next week, so plan to buy one duty free, which saves me the 15% GST we pay in NZ. That will lessen the pain if I am wrong about a new release.

If you're looking for the 12.9" iPad Pro, I would say you might want to wait a little bit and see what's announced this fall. If you're wanting the 9.7", I would say you're probably ok getting one now.

I will also add that whether you jump on something now or wait until a refresh, you will be happy either way. I was originally skeptical of the iPad Pro, but it has become my favorite Apple device of all time.

I am waiting for the next big iPad Pro because I really want the 3D Touch feature that I have in my iPhone 6S plus, and it is not in the current iPad Pro. It will definitely be in any new hardware release. If you don't know what it is or what it does, I suggest watching the last WWDC video where Apple shows how cool it will be in IOS 10.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Building 3D Touch into larger screens is technologically very difficult. Keep in mind that iPads don't even have vibration, which is an important element of 3D Touch.

It's possible you might be right about it being difficult building it into big screens, but it's too big a feature to just have on an iPhone, and they are spending a lot of time touting how great that feature will be in IOS 10. I'm willing to wait it out, because if I buy one now and it's built into the next iPad, I know I'll be pissed off.

The thing lacking with the iPad Pro 12.9 is not the hardware, apps that take advantage of that screen size and power are the problem. I would suggest buying one for a low price now, that way you get the device you want and you get to experience iOS growing in to a platform that has apps that can take advantage of the power.

Of course in time the Pro will - omit the headphone port, wireless charging, increased minimum storage, get rid of the home button, become fold-able etc etc, how long can you wait?!

I'm wondering if some of the issues would be trying to use the Apple Pencil with a screen that has 3D Touch?

It is only your opinion that it will be in the next hardware release. How many different iPads have been released since 3D touch was made available in iPhones?

You are welcome to wait. But keep in mind that by the time that 3D touch makes it to the iPad (if it does) there will be a new "must-have" feature released on the iPhone which would then warrant waiting again.

It is a safe bet, a very safe bet, that there is NOT going to be an updated and improved Apple Pencil anytime soon (next couple of years) if ever.

We would have heard more rumors or seen leaks if there was an update this year.

2 iPad Pros have been released since 3D Touch was made
available in the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.

Yes, that's my
opinion. Everything said in this forum is opinion.
If you watched the Apple WWDC a month and a half ago, you would have seen what a big deal they made about 3D Touch and it's future. I don't believe that is for only the iPhone and quite frankly it would be a waste to put all that time and energy into that feature just have it on an iPhone. They didn't say what devices would have it, but they also didn't say it was just for the iPhone. Since it is such a useable feature, now opened up to other app developers, I would welcome it on other devices.

That's a very good point.

Even if a new one came, iOS isnt doing anything major.....just a waste of a release imo
