a better place
I got over 4 hours with screen half bright, bluetooth off, wifi on surfing the web, checking email.

What's irking me more at the moment is 'how long' it's taking to charge the laptop. At the moment it takes nearly 4.5 / 6 hours to charge ?

I get 4 to 5.5 hrs depending on usage. Of course this is after conditioning the battery :)

mine isnt that bad. with wifi and bluetooth on, it can reach somewhat between 4:00 to 4:20 hours.
give the battery sometime to warm up since its new, it will reach its best performance.

wtf?

So I tried the calibrating thing last night. Ran down to nothing. Let it sit unplugged from 6pm until 3am and plugged it in. Woke up at 7am and it is at 36% and says 5:45 until charged. I had 98% before I started and now it is at 96%. Woah... I just checked the charge time and it said 2:44 then switched before my eyes to 1:39.

I hope everything is okay. Sucks the battery health is lower. Hope that changes too.

Should all do SMU reset while power adapter is unplugged and MBA is turned off. Will do wonders for how long your battery charge lasts.

I am on my first charge. I am going to drain the battery all the way just to make sure the system is calibrated. So far, the laptop has been on for 4:45 with "0:20" remaining. Sounds about 5 hours to me.

Now mind you, this has not been very normal usage, as I have:

- Downloaded OS patches
- Installed microsoft office 2004 from a network attached install CD
- Downloaded every single security update for microsoft office until current (about 5-6 of them)
- Downloaded a bunch of standard software (IM clients, flip4mac, etc)
- Downloaded the entire 1+GB garage band audio loops pack
- Played with the video conferencing between two laptops
- surfed the web for hours while doing all of this

Ive been on this laptop so long, my head hurts. Im glad its almost over soon (and going on the charger for the night). All in the name of science.

Now, mind you, i wasnt playing two movies at once while frantically loading web pages every 20 seconds while playing itunes (like one famous test), but the battery life on this is pretty damn good compared to my macbook. Its a vast improvement.

I dont know what you guys are doing with YOUR laptops, but seems to be working like a champ here.

Anybody tried a 1.6 80 at low brightness with no WiFi?

I need to take notes all day in class and am wondering how far I can get just running Pages and maxing my battery life.

I would guess a little over 6 hours...i was using the "Better battery life" with wifi and bluetooth turned off, and it appeared to predict a very long battery life.
