Saw it in the Black Friday Thread at BestBuy for $80US. Last time I brought one from iTunes it ran me close to $130NZD but thought I'd try this last night for digital delivery and it went through OK!! Ended up being $105NZ so result on that side as use it for rentals/tv shows in New Zealand as the NZ itunes store sucks.

I ordered an 11" 1.6GHz i5 128GB/4GB MacBook Air from Amazon earlier this morning when the price was still $1,098. Oh, and Amazon doesn't collect sales tax in CA, so that's all in.:D

Stoked.

Now to order some accessories for it.......

What's with the downvote? I balanced it out as I really friggin' hate that system around here.

Anyway, congrats on the purchase! I love my MBA. Let us know what accessories you wind up getting. I'm still incapable of pulling the trigger on any.

Someone seems to always downvote me in this thread.:rolleyes:

Thanks.:)

Regarding accessories......I just ordered a Moshi Palmguard in silver from B&H. I had one on my MBP, and loved it. I knew it was the first thing I'd buy....that way I wouldn't have to worry about my watch scratching the palmrest area.

I need to order a powered USB hub (any suggestions from anyone? Preferably from Amazon), and a small shoulder/messenger bag that will hold the MBA, the power source, and a few other odds and ends. I may also get the Bookarc.....

^^ I'd suggest a keyboard cover, specifically a Moshi.

When you first get it, you'll be like "Why the **** did I buy this?? I can't type!" but you'll get used to it. Before I hated mine, but now I love typing with it. It gives the keys a good grip IMO. I can hardly type properly without the cover.

The main reason I bought it is because I hate when dust/debris gets stuck under the key. That absolutely drives me insane.

Look at Fossil.com for messenger bags. I have one and it's great, and I have never heard a bad review.

Bought an Arkon stand for my Kindle (brother has one for his iPad). It's a pretty nice stand for the money ($12.95, Amazon).

Thanks for the suggestion......I'll think about it, but I've never had a keyboard cover before and I was just fine. I just made sure not to eat anything that created crumbs while using my MBP.:p

Does it affect how the MBA closes?

Thanks, I'll take a look. I'm hoping to find something that was designed with the 11" MBA in mind though.

I've been using that stand for over a year now. It's pretty good, but I don't love it. It doesn't lock well at certain angles.

I have the same thing, but with the 256GB drive. :)

It's my primary computer, and it's wonderful.

STM makes a bag designed specifically for the 11" MBA. Me? I bought the Be.ez LA Robe sleeve, which I think is the best sleeve in existence, and put it in my regular messenger bag. ;) The LA Robe is very strong.

Nope.
I guess if you're careful not to eat anything that will create crumbs, you don't really need one (unless you dislike the keyboard getting shiny). I just bought mine because I keep my computer open all the time, and I'd just hate for dust (or anything, really) to get stuck under the keys. I don't really mind my keyboard getting shiny of any of that.

Books!!!

Not a fan of digital books at all and probably never will be, prefer to have something to show for reading it. You may even say I collect real books... (On the plus side they also don't run out of battery power). Recently I used up a lot of vouchers to buy these:

Giorgio Faletti - I Kill

George Orwell - Nineteen Eighty Four

George Orwell - Animal Farm

John Boyne - The Boy In the Striped Pyjamas

Jules Verne - Twenty Thousand Legues Under the Sea

Only finished one so far....

Haven't been playing any games for the past few years. I saw on Macgamestore.com that they had Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare at 50% off. So I snagged it. I like it so far!

I figured it's about time to upgrade my MBP - G. Skill 2x4GB

Now I just have to make sure this is the absolute right spec, I'm a worry wart, even after researching. Anyone who can confirm this will work, you can ease my mind for the evening!
