I had a free hour during my schedule today, so I roamed around half price books for a bit.

Ever since Garden State, I have loved Frou Frou's track 'Let Go'. For $6, The albums seemed worth it. So far, I couldn't be happier.

I still get goosebumps when I hear his song. Garden State was this first time I heard it too. Quite frankly the whole Garden State soundtrack is pretty dope. Although lately the movie The Holiday is what I think of when I hear Let Go.

Zach Braff won all kinds of awards for the soundtrack to 'Garden State'.

I've never seen 'The Holiday', is it any good?

I love Garden State as well, one of my favorite movies.

Sadly I was told yesterday that Intel hasnt allocated any processors to New Zealand retailers yet, so we won't be seeing them here for another 1-2 weeks :(

Might end up buying one from a US retailer.

Might as well wait, they will be hard to find in stock when they release.

Great album. It's been forever since I've heard that album. Must start listening to it again. Imogen Heap looks so beautiful on this album's cover.

New York, Baby!
Not quite my last purchase, because I paid for it in October, but USCIS finally approved my application to adjust status to Permanent Residence.

So I'll be getting a green card through the post - it looks a little something like this...

Then in two years time, we get to go through more fun with the USCIS, and then a year after that, even more fun with them!

What was your previous status, and where are you from?

Fiancé (k1). Applied for and got Employment Authorization at the same time and I'm from the UK.

It was sent to the California Service Center, which is notorious for long waits, but they don't interview you. If it went to a local office, my wife and I would have had to have the interview. Which is kind of good only because we both work.

I'm from the UK and I wanna move to New York :( to work!

If you have a degree, then it will be easier for a company to sponsor your vise. You'll just have to find a company willing to do it! Hint - ad agencies seem to like the British...

I don't have a degree, but my wife is a teacher here, so when we were deciding, we thought I'd have more chance of getting work in my field (IT) as soon as I was authorized to work than she would after having to get certified as a teacher in the UK. We were right, and I was able to work supporting pretty much only Macs, which is what I really wanted to do.

So if you don't have a degree, find an american with a penchant for the English ;) (although you do need amples of patience!)

Anything particularly special about those straps?

Special? No, not really.

I wanted a replacement because the default strap includes a triangular metal hoop that's sort of like those round hoops you normally find on keychains. My camera uses a triangular one to attach to the metal lugs on my X100. The problem is that due to the 3 tapered corners, they're really digging into the lugs and wearing them out quickly. Soon, the lugs will be too worn out, and I'll have no way to attach a strap to my camera!!

I was looking for circular ones to attach to my camera, but since these straps are nicer than what I currently have, and they come with the round hoop connectors, I just saved myself the trouble and bought a completely new strap! ;)

They're also purdy and look good on my camera. :) There are cheaper straps, but I'd only save $10, and it would be fugly.

... What!?

Just bought this babe on Bestbuy:

asus_g74sx_1095683_g1.jpg

From 1249 to 899.

Right now im doing a lot of 3D modeling and doing a lot of video editing, and i was planning to buy a MBP 17. But when i saw this, and for the price... i said, what the hell. 2GB DDR5 Video Graphics... Intel Core i7, Amazing. And the most important thing: i can use all its power without worring about the heat. Its a big, bulky computer, but its amazing.
