I thought it would be cool to post how you have your screen real-estate organised when working/study. Do you switch style around a lot or do you have the same layout all the time? Is your style clean or is it messy?

I'll start, I'm a boring guy who has the same clean (well I think) layout all the time. Never change, if I do its only minor. iTunes keeps me sane while studying ;)

Yes I know this is a random thread idea, but I was studying and realised I always have this boring but productive layout  (Productive apart from iTunes ;))

Mine is pretty messy really.

I have Word open on the top, when I'm working, then Safari underneath. iTunes under that, keeping me sane as you put it (;)), and iChat (and sometimes MSN) open, so I am always only an IM away (although my status is usually away).

Nice thread, I like it.

Yeah I revert from MSN ;)

I usually use Safari a lot in the process of studying, but it's closed when not in use or either it's hidden.

I really want a bigger screen, my only computer is my iBook 12" which is great but sometimes to small to work on.

Yeah. You can see from my screenshot I have the page at 112% big in Word, and I could easily fit another at that size (width wise) next to it. I moved from 1024*768 to 1680*1050, and its been great. :)

Actually, I took a screen very recently. I titled the file "Dual DVI wanted.jpg". Here we go:

EDIT: Well, it's not really working, but it's what I do on monday mornings.
Description:
Browser - Spiegel online, German news magazine.
iTunes window - Tagesschau podcast, another news magazine, this time TV.
Skype - conversation with a friend of mine plus contact list
Adium - just my little contact list
Dock - nah, I've said enough ;)

From the thread title, I was think more along the lines of the fact that I sit on my buttocks on the couch with my iBook in my lap. That's how I work on my Mac.

Screenwise, the 14" screen with 1024 resolution limits what is viewable on the screen. I use alt-tab and alt-~ a lot to go between working screens. I'll have Entourage, Firefox, Adium, Word open at any given time.

If you're using Safari, just hit File>New Tab...Pretty much the same in any web browser that supports tabs...

You have to enable tabbed browsing first.

Safari->Perferences->Tabbed Browsing->Enable Tabbed Browsing.

Geez, I'm gone for 15 minutes and I come back to read five responces on how to do it. Thanks!

Anyways since school's out, I don't have much "work" anymore, but I was pulling up a re-enactment of my screen on June 1st.
