So do you only recommend these two albums?
- James Gang Rides Again (July 1970)
- Thirds (April 1971)
Wow. They were live last night. Looks like the almighty copyright gods got to them.
I have all of their stuff on either vinyl or CD. Their debut album
Yer' Album is my personal favourite. You've got a bit of everything there - 10 minutes blues jams, some before it's time 'Walshy' sort of songs in Bluebird & Funk #48 & really nice acoustic pieces (Collage). Walsh did both lead & vocals on this album, but they introduced a new frontman in '71(?) to give Walsh more time to focus on his guitaring. Since '70 they had people coming & going so there was never a same line-up across more than one album.
Rides Again was released in '70 & is a bit more chilled out & relaxed.
Miami (1974) is another awesome set but in a very different way to their earlier stuff - mainly because Walsh was missing. You just need to listen to the albums as a whole. They're all great in their different respects.
So - I'm saying, I recommend all of them!
