I am at 30. I have had the laptop for exactly 2 months now.

Is the cycle count too much? Do I need to take steps to keep it plugged in more? Or should I just keep using it the way I want to....after all it is just a frickin' laptop? FWIW I have never babied it, I never do any of my gadgets. It looks dirty as hell and has that 'used' look and kind of like it. I may have wiped it down maybe 2-3 times in 2 months.

Your battery cycle count is strictly determined by your individual needs, so seeing other people's cycle count is irrelevant to your situation. Some need to run on battery more often; some can run plugged in more often. There is no right or wrong count. Just make sure you don't leave it plugged in all the time. This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:

135 cycles
96% capacity
since 03 Nov '10

you cycle count is about right.
let the battery run down to 0% every now and again, then plug in for a full charge plus an additional hour.
better to run on battery than to be connected to power all the time.
it is a notebook after all not a desktop

What is that? It's not calibrating and it's not required for proper battery care. Did you just make that up?

no sir, didn't make it up - it used to be common practise over the years with earlier model Mac notebooks, and I've just kept on doing it.

works for me and keeps my battery in good health, which is aways a plus when you come to sell it.
(my daughter's early '08 MBPro, which used to be mine, is still on original battery and holding great charge I believe due to this process)

Maybe I'm wrong; if I am I'm sure you or someone else will let me know :D

Read the Apple Battery FAQ I posted in the 2nd post of this thread. That will give you accurate information for proper battery care, directly from Apple. I'm still using an Early '08 MBP.

i was checking my battery health status once in a while and it dropped 4% only after 10 weeks of use... Is this normal with the macbook air 13? it seems to be dropping 1% after 2 weeks or so of use, and the numbers dont come back up. I dont leave it plugged all time, I often use it until 80% then charge it.....

Yes, it's normal that your battery health fluctuates both up and down over time. Read the Battery FAQ in the 2nd post of this thread.

I'm at 99 cycles, had my MBA since mid-January I think (or sometime around January). Don't get fooled by battery health - it keeps going up and down occasionally like I'll go on it tomorrow and it would be 96%, up from 94%. At least I experience this with iStat Pro.
