We had dinner at The Great Greek! in Sherman Oaks this past Saturday night.

The roasted spring lamb was so juicy and tender......*drool*

It wasn't as good as some of the Greek food I used to eat on the Danforth in Toronto, but it was excellent.

so i had Umami burger for the first time. it was good, but i wasn't overly impressed. i thought the burgers were on the small side and i didn't realize that they were $12. i don't mind paying that much or more for a great burger, but these were only a little above average.

the umami burger would have been better sans the homemade ketchup, that was pretty foul.

the trattoria burger was pretty tasty.

I wasn't overly impressed either. It's one of those trendy hyped not really that great places IMO.

I decided to make some Italian meatballs from scratch today. I also made a marinara sauce, and we'll be eating meatball sandwiches for dinner.

I agree as well. Getting kind of tired of the whole "genre."

Give me an in-n-out burger and I'm happy--without feeling ripped off.

That looks really good! I'm spending the weekend in Huntington Beach... maybe shoot down to Newport Beach and try one.

Be sure to try the fried dill pickle chips as an appetizer. If you're a beer drinker, they have a beer sampler that you can order which is nice.

I've always wanted to order dessert there (or at least a shake), but I'm always so full after eating the burger and fries/onion strings, that there's never room.:p

Oh, no way can I do desert after that, lol. Just a burger like that for me is something I might do once every few months. :)

Yeah, we don't go there often. Maybe once every couple of months?

I usually get the 1/3 lb burger, and it's more than enough. I once tried the 2/3 lb burger, and it was ridiculous. I would never order the 1 pounder......

My wife has been ordering their veggie burger lately, and it's really tasty too.

/man, I should see if they'll hire me to do PR :p

There is a place near me called Island Burgers. I always have a great time when I go there. It has great and comfortable atmosphere with really cute waitresses. :) The food is great as well.

Another place I know of would be Culvers and the Heart Attack Grill. I don't really enjoy Heart Attack Grill as much as some do.

I love soba, and I don't know if your GF made this one too but, I've decided I hate you (out of jealousy), and I keep wondering why you aren't married to your GF yet. Don't let her get away.

Yes she did make this meal. Someone else asked why I haven't married her yet, that's because I'm waiting for my divorce to finalize with my psycho ex.

here's some random stuff:

Pastrami Dip - The Hat, Simi Valley

Shrimp Fried Rice - Pho CT, Canoga Park

Beef Chow Fun - Crown Wok, West Hills

3x3 Animal Style - In N Out, Thousand Oaks

Shredded Beef Tacos - Sierra's, Canoga Park
If you're ever in the Valley, on Wednesdays, they have $.99 tacos. Beyond the great price, these tacos are bomb. They make their own shells and the meat is tasty. I would venture to say that these tacos are almost as good as Tito's.
