Cool photos.
I had a D300 and was a Nikon user myself.
I sold it all because I didn't use the equipment often enough to justify hoarding $6000 worth of gear in my closet. So 4 months before the X100 launch, I sold all my Nikon gear for a bit over $4000, and pre-ordered the X100 before I had read any proper reviews.
Once I had it in my hands, I knew I hadn't made a mistake.
The 35 and 50 mm focal lengths were my favourite anyway, and I never used zooms. Loved the freedom the X100 gave me.
The X100 was my only camera for 1.5 years, until I bought an X-Pro1 on sale just to get the 50 mm equivalent lens. Expensive, I know, but I may add another lens now that my wife is pregnant.
I finally decided to rent the Fujifilm X100s for a week to see what it is like. Very excited to use this. Depending on how well it goes I may want to replace it with my current setup (Canon 6D | 24-70 f/2.8L | 40MM). Or maybe i'll just add it as an everyday camera.

You're going to love it.
Even though mine is slower at focusing, and isn't nearly as good overall as the X100s, I have learned to shoot very well with it, and really understand its shortcomings. Or perhaps I should say that I've refined my ability to shoot with a 35 mm focal length, and know what to look for that will work in photos.
It's going to be a huge change for you, but it actually didn't take me as long to acclimatise, since I was already shooting primarily with a 35 mm prime on my Nikon anyway.
