I retested it again over wireless on my MBP and it got a much lower DL, but about 10Mb upload.

yea mine was wireless, in the library with +200 people there.

im sure if i came in in the night time it would have been much higher, we have 2xgigabit fibre connections to UQ up on brisbane :D UQ serves as one of the main hubs for QLD i believe. so yea pretty fast.

Hooray, it just ate my post.

The gist of it was that I only get about 3.5 Mb/s at home at the moment, but a cable upgrade in March should push that up to 20 or more. At the moment I get better speed from my cellphone than from my wired broadband!

Edit: I'm at home now, so here are my stats:

Pricing won't change; I'm currently paying AU$0.95 per GB (plus $71 monthly, which gives me a landline, broadband, and free local calling). I'm actually really close to switching to a different ISP that only charges $56/month with 75 GB data included, then $1.20/GB overage.

Edit: Also, here's a speed test from work: (not from today, but I can do a newer one next time I'm there; should be faster now because we've had a cable upgrade).

aahh tempting. would you download more then the 75GB on average? bit hard when the prices are different like that.. i wonder how much you can download on the "new" ISP until you are at a loss.
