I was waiting for it for a couple of years. In the mean time I had unlimited ADSL with 14 Mb real speed for 10 US$ and a second line of 20 - 70 Mb LTE so called "home setup" with cap at 60 GB for 15 US$. The cap was theoritical as they usually reduced the speed for a day or two down to 10 Mb.

Upgraded my parents internet connection.

Set up the fibre broadband in my new house. I guess it's not too shabby.

I need another drink! .. Good Lord!

Dropped my home phone and upgraded my internet. My bill will actually DROP about $20/month, as I was on an ancient plan they don't offer anymore that was more expensive in combination with dropping the phone. Just never go around to messing with it until last week.

Redid my speedtest and got much better results after upgrading to the latest Airport Extreme. Not sure how some of you are getting such super high speeds though.

Stupid question:

Would getting a better/latest router increase my speeds or is that dependent on my area and what I am paying for(xfinity)?

My 100/50Mbps fibre connection is one of the best residential connections available anywhere in South Africa. Damn, pales in comparison to the gigabit connections in this thread.

A better router would help you get the most out of your connection, but your top speed is ultimately going to be dependent on your overall speed from your provider.
