Not quite. I occasionally do work behind the scenes at the police station that directly assists frontline police. One day I'll be a cop though.

New Zealand is a bit different to the United States. The New Zealand Police are the least corrupt in the world and have the highest rate of solved crimes, and they do all this being routinely unarmed. They are also respected by the vast majority of the New Zealand population.
Absolutely. They also only carry Tasers into jobs where they feel it could be needed. Usually the presence of a Taser is enough to get someone to co-operate when talking fails.
It's amazing how being verbal with people can get most situations resolved instead of pointing a gun at them.
Same here in UK. Our's only use tasers when it's a high risk operation, no guns... And when the police over here even pull out their taser, even without firing they need to fill out a ridiculous amount of paperwork...
In most countries, the police dont carry live ammo...its a silly US thing where everyone and their dog must be carrying a tool to kill. In the UK police carry a stun gun...theres simply no need for live ammo as nobody walks around with a gun in their pocket.
