My First Try!

Here are a few example desktops I have created using the same format. This is my first time designing my own after messing with it for quite a while! I wanted a versatile geektool design that would allow various wallpapers to be used.

Every wallpaper except for the last is from vladstudio.com

I would really appreciate any tips, ideas, or comments!

Aloha everybody,

Well, Bradley Wiggins, barring the results from tomorrow's stage, should go into the time trial still in yellow. The Polka-dot jersey has once again changed hands, this time going back to Thomas Voeckler, who also won today's stage. Tomorrow is the last day in the mountains for this year's Tour, and the Polka-dot jersey could, conceivably, once again change hands. That said, here are the wallpapers I created for Stage 16 of Le Tour de France 2012. Enjoy!

Beautiful. You're using Nocturne?

Yes, I'm using Nocturne. Inverted (to make it black) and dimmed when not in use. I also turned off "Translucent" menu bar in the Mac Settings because it was making some of my wallpapers look funny.

The only downside to Nocturne is when you are viewing some apps and videos in fullscreen. But its so easily turned off and on that its not a nuisance.

Yeah I hate that. I stopped using it because of the black bar i got at the top in fullscreen. Wish they implemented some shortcut key.

What are you using for that UI there?

Not sure what you mean but;

Dock is Obsidian Dock
Icons are assorted from DeviantArt
Menubar icons are by iAndrew
Date in the bottom corner is taken from a Bowtie theme & used in Geektool.
Ribbon is Geektool also.

Hope this helps :)

Aloha everybody,

Well, Bradley Wiggins is going to win this year's Tour, unless something goes horribly wrong in the final ITT. The more interesting jersey competition is the Polka-dot jersey. Voeckler was able to defend his jersey today, and with only one category 3 and a few category 4 climbs in tomorrow's stage, he looks good for the Polka-dot jersey in Paris. Congratuations Mr. Voeckler! With that said, here are the wallpapers I created for Stage 17 of Le Tour de France 2012. Enjoy!

It's impossible for anybody to take the polka dot jersey from Voeckler now.

That's what I was hoping. I gained a lot of respect when he held the yellow jersey for what I think was 11 stages during Armstrong's reign. He really seems pleased to have, and keep, the maillot à pois. I tell you, I was REALLY impressed with "little Tommy Voeckler" today - he took all the top mountain points!

After thinking about it, I would also add that all jerseys are most likely set in stone now. I really don't see Van Garderen or Sagan losing their jerseys, and Wiggo secured his in the ITT. I wonder if he'll take the next ITT.

BTW, I have not yet completed the Jens Voigt wallpaper and had a question. Do you want the map of France in the background, or simply a black background? Also, did you want any additional graphical elements in there? I apologize for having taken so long, but I wanted to get the right picture of him to use in the wallpaper.

I'd say a simple black background would be best since the tour is already "over". I broke down the race for each jersey in the tour thread in the community discussion thread. They're all basically done.
