I am not trying to be an a**hole, I am merely curious, but why do some you have your widgets spread out randomly instead of having them either all above or all below your apps? It would drive me crazy having a big widget right in between the middle or one one side (if you use the small square widget) of all my apps.

Simply a matter of choice... everyone is free to personalize their home screens the way they choose... especially after over 10 years of whinging about how Apple locks everything down... people just want to express themselves, I suppose.

Yep. I don’t get the appeal. Looks dumb.
I’ve got three widgets providing me 4 apps worth of information (todo list, future appointments, weather, and twitter feed). I don’t have to open 4 apps to get that info. I don’t care how it looks (as if a screen full of icons looks any less “dumb”). Seems obvious to me.

Icons/Widgets not random for me. Its about one handed efficiency. My lower large stacked widget is my most used with reminders & calendar and reached/flicked easily with my thumb. The traditional icons are my most used as well and also easily reached with my thumb. The Clock, Weather, and Maps widgets are stacked as well but not used as often and easily accessible when my device is mounted on the dash of my car where one handed operation isn’ t required.

I've pretty much landed here for the time being... as more third party widgets get released, it's subject to minor tweaking or the nuclear option...

Three widget stacks, all on Smart Rotate:

Top Left: Date Today, Fitness, Stocks, Hard Disk
Top Right: CARROT snark, CARROT daily
Middle: Widget Wizard, Batteries, Battery Grapher, Fitness

I think for some of us it’s definitely in rebellion to the standard grid layout. It adds a much needed visual relief.

I’ve had android and got bored of the clutter. Might even get rid of the activity widget because it’s always on the watch🤷‍♂️

i don’t go past second page I search if I need an app that’s beyond.

So far I've just put a stack on top of the home screen with various widgets. I still make extensive use of the left widget panel.

I'll wait for other apps to have their own widgets (mail, social medias, text messages apps, etc.) to re-configure it more extensively.

On thing I'd love to see are "aggregate" widgets. As an illustration I use three text messaging apps and mails regularly and I'd love to have a unifying text messaging / mail widget for all of them.

As an Android user of about 9 years, I get the excitement over these in iOS 14 but I never use widgets as they are generally crappy. Just a clock/weather one on the home screen, no others.

Most definitely a widget I’ll use without any doubt in my mind.

Isn't there any way to get my iPad Pro on my widget on my iPhone? I use my iPad quite a lot for work and would help a lot in the evening to glance and see if it needs overnight charging
