I’m seeing Safari Highlights in Australia on the latest DB on iPadOS and iOS. I believe it was a US English only feature?
Hey everyone,
Thanks for all the impressions and photos! I keep thinking about switching from the 16 Pro to the 16e. There's something about its minimalist design and the focus on the essentials that really appeals to me—it just looks so light and simple in a way that’s really attractive.
I’m not completely unhappy with my 16 Pro, but I don’t really use many of its features (especially the camera), and to be honest, I’m getting a bit bored with it. Ever since I got my Fuji camera, taking photos with my iPhone just isn’t fun anymore. 😅 For everyday use, a basic camera on the iPhone would be totally fine for me.
One thing that does matter to me, though, is battery life. The 16 Pro isn't bad in that regard, but it’s also not amazing. Sometimes the battery performance feels inconsistent, especially when using 5G—it drains pretty fast. I keep hearing that the 16e has excellent battery life, but some YouTube videos say otherwise or claim that the difference compared to the regular 16 isn’t that big. I haven’t found many real-world battery comparisons.
Does anyone here have a hands-on comparison of the 16 Pro and 16e in terms of everyday battery performance?
The only thing holding me back a little is the lack of ProMotion. Would I get used to 60Hz again? Hmm. I really feel drawn to the 16e and could see myself trying one out temporarily. And with new iPhones coming in the fall, the new Air might be super interesting too.
Anyone else feeling the same way?
Thanks for sharing your experience! Glad to hear you're happy with the 16e. The battery life sounds especially impressive! I think it really comes down to individual needs—if someone values the Pro features, then the trade-offs might not be worth it, but if those aren’t essential, the 16e seems like a great choice. The clean design is definitely a nice touch too!Hi. Not sure Apple thought people maybe considering swapping their 16 Pro’s for the 16e lol You would be losing a lot of high end ‘Pro’ features. If you don’t need or use them then you may be OK and won’t miss much. Personally I’d stay with the 16 Pro if I had a choice! Entirely your own decision.
I’ve had my 16e for just over a week now and I’m very very happy with it. I’ve said before that it covers the basics and does them very well! Great performance, solid single camera which delivers some great results, and the biggest surprise for me was the battery life - the best I’ve had in an iPhone. Also love the sleek and clean aesthetic look, really nice looking device.
Apples battery life numbers show they’re very close in the compare iPhones section.
Yes, I've already tried using 60Hz, and I can definitely feel the difference—120Hz just feels smoother. I’m not sure if I’d get used to 60Hz again after a few days, though. I mean, I used 60Hz for years since the first iPhone, and it never really bothered me, but once you experience 120Hz, it’s hard to go back. That would probably be the only real reason for me not to switch. In addition to what James has said if you wanted to see how you got on with reverting back to 60Hz again I guess could enable "Limit Frame Rate" under Accessibility>Motion and/or enable Low Power Mode to see how you feel?
I rarely, if ever, have 5G enabled on my iPhone 16 Pro Max - where I live and work in the UK coverage is far too sporadic for it to be of consistent usage. I can count on one hand whereby 5G speeds (in terms of download throughput) have been on par to my FTTP connection at home!

Most of the Pro features aren’t really that important to me anyway. As for 5G, I’m lucky to have great coverage almost everywhere, but I do notice that my 16 Pro drains the battery quite fast on 5G compared to Wi-Fi. I know Wi-Fi is generally more power-efficient, but I’m really hoping the C1 chip will help improve battery life on 5G.
I’ve had my 16e for a week now. Out of all the things it lacks from the more expensive iPhones, there’s only one thing I really miss and that’s Dynamic Island. Not that I really used the features of it, but I just think it looks nicer.
I’m seriously considering selling my 15 Pro and using the 16e as my main phone when it unlocks in 7 weeks. I never really liked the 15 Pro anyway and felt like it was a downgrade in some ways from my purple 14 Pro.
What I did not realise is that the 16e has wireless charging. It is just missing the magnets to align with the dock.
Features like MagSafe arrive and then people suddenly can’t live without it. Like there’s no other way to have wireless charging. To me it’s nothing.I think many are confused between the two and think it doesn’t have wireless charging because it does not have MagSafe.
I wouldn’t charge wirelessly if not for MagSafe. The magnets are the more interesting feature than wireless charging, IMO. If they leave the magnets out, I’d rather prefer they also leave the wireless charging out and use aluminum instead of glass on the back. Just my 2 cents.Features like MagSafe arrive and then people suddenly can’t live without it. Like there’s no other way to have wireless charging. To me it’s nothing.
Certainly your prerogative. Magnets have been around for a long time. Not particularly interesting but I guess if your intent is holding your phone in place while driving, for instance, they serve a purpose.I wouldn’t charge wirelessly if not for MagSafe. Got these so far with night mode active 😄Have you had much luck with night/minimally lit photos?
