Well I pay £26.99 a month… but that included the pixel 9 pro that I sold for £650. I also got £100 cash back which made the 16e I bought outright cheaper.

So 26 x 24 months = £647

Less the sale of the Pixel and my cash back I’m up £100 over two years. So I’m paying nothing contract wise for unlimited data, texts and calls.

The 16e 256GB less the £100 I had from the pixel deal made it £599 so over the same period of 24 months I’m paying £24.90 as a total cost for device and coverage with unlimited everything.
I don't want to be that guy, but I doubt you'll really keep the 16e for a year with all the phones you bought, sold and return in just one year. Sounds more like impulse buy syndrome than anything else.

I live in Spain. The official price in my country is 709€, but I know an online store that sells the new 16e for 599€ (in fact, two days ago the price was 588€).

Of course with all taxes included. It seems that this store saves on taxes somehow...
I and people in my closest circle have bought a few iPhones and iPads without any problem, they are 100% new devices. So, at €600 the new 16e its a good deal, and for my preferences, better choice that the regular iPhone 16 at €750.

For €600 I would buy it, but at the moment the cheapest one I can find is €700…

Where do you live, in another european country?

Yes, I'm going to buy it soon, I was waiting about a little sale, but now the price has raised haha. The other day with a coupon the price was €585, very good price (despite all the things that the 16e has missed compared to the regular iPhone 16).

That depends on what the iPhone air actually is… but I wanted back on iOS and the 16 Pro I had already returned. This will then be given to one of my parents to replace their 13 Pro or 12 mini or I’ll keep it, as I’ve said previously all I actually need is iOS, not too big of a device, lightweight and one good camera.

As for the design, I think it’s very nice. I’ll be getting one soon, also in black.

For me, the biggest loss is the ability to take macro photos. My first iPhone was the original SE, the next was the SE 2020 (and I missed Night mode so much back then). My third iPhone is the 13 mini, and I finally got Night mode, but I miss macro (since the iPhone 13 Pro Keynote). But, for me, more important than macro mode is the battery (and size, which are related).

There will be no more small iPhones, so with that battle over (and lost) and looking at the 6.1-inch iPhones, battery is a very important thing for me.
My 13 mini with 84% battery health gives me about 4 hours of screen. All my iPhones have had a poor battery, so… the 16e seems very appropriate to me.

I also really like the design, very clean and clear on the back, reminiscent of the design of my first iPhone SE (the most beautiful iPhone I ever had, in my opinion).

In my country I can buy a regular 16 for around €750 and the new 16e costs around €600. It’s not a huge difference, but I prefer more battery over a better camera system (I think the 16e will do me just fine, except for macro…), and the other things I’m going to lose don’t seem very important to me, like more brightness, ultrawide chip, MagSafe…

For sure the design looks super clean with great aesthetics. The black is very sleek and my favourite colour.

You will for sure love the 16e coming from a 13 Mini, just the bigger size to get used to I guess! The battery life will be night and day difference and it’ll blow you away from your previous iPhones performance!

Whilst no macro mode, the camera is able to focus quite close up to your subject.

The 14 Plus pictures has a bit dull colors and they are less sharp in the near field, special in your lovely dog picture, compared to the 16e.
Yes. It definitely wins out over the 14 Plus’ main camera for detail, overall clarity and colours.

I’m loving the battery life on my 16 Pro. I easily get through the day and have plenty to spare. They’ve really nailed it.
You can’t say that and not share a screenshot!

Share a screenshot of the last 24 hours of settings-battery please!

Doesn’t tell me much to be honest, it had practically no usage when it was unplugged.
To me these graphs and data mean little. Real life usage results matter most. All that matters is that it last all day without issue. What more could anyone want?

Yeah, absolutely, I was just saying that that specific graph included no screen-on time data.

As long as it’s enough for you, it’s fine. I’ve seen people happy with what I would consider poor results, and I’ve seen the opposite, too. All that matters is how happy you are!

I’m not a heavy user. I would say medium. Email, text, internet, work, music or podcasts for a few hours at night. Haven’t been below 75%. I watch people at work who can’t look away from their phones for 2 minutes, watching TikTok all day, etc. They probably use a lot more.

Some close up shots. Obviously no dedicated macro photography but using the HEIF 48mp mode you can crop in very close.

Wow, those photos look incredible for having been shot with the main camera and not with the ultra wide camera in macro mode.
In all the iPhones I have had, the minimum focus distance was not enough to take images like that, so it's a big improvement.

As an opinion and summary, with all the images I have seen and different reviews, despite having only one camera and being a worse sensor than the iPhone 16:
- in images during the day there is hardly any difference with the iPhone 16
- you can get close-up photography, not as good as with the dedicated macro mode of other iPhones, but for example much better than with my iPhone 13 mini
- in night mode it works worse than the iPhone 16, but with decent results
- in videos you can notice a difference compared to the iPhone 16, especially in stability and lighting. It is surely not a bad video camera, but it is not "the video of an iPhone". I think it is the one that is least up to par

If pictures/videos are your No. one priority you should buy the 16 Pro, if not, the 16e is a better choice.

Yep I agree. I do take a lot of photos and I’m happy and surprised with the 16e. It’s camera system maybe lacking features but what it has got is a solid set up capable of getting some great shots. I very rarely shoot videos and when I do this will be more than enough.

This combined with the performance and excellent battery life of the 16e, it has given me no regrets. Let’s just say it’s got the basics right and does them very well.
