I wasn’t expecting the battery to be this good!
7.5 hours on 50%, looking great! I don’t know how heavy of a user you are, but that looks great!

That’s more or less the top-end of the iPhone Xʀ’s battery life on iOS 12 with my (extremely light) usage (with the absolute top limit perhaps being 8.5 hours on 50%), so it should be significantly better than that, as my usage is very light.

I upgraded to the 16 Plus yesterday, I wonder how they compare. I haven’t had the chance to test battery life with any significance yet. Apple claims one more hour for the Plus, so they’re probably similar. Surprised about the inclusion of a better battery life than the regular 16, too. I think that one is very good. Barring the SE and the Minis, I think battery life has been a solved endeavour on original iOS version iPhones since the Xʀ and the 11 series, imo. The regular 12 series has been criticized for having a mediocre battery life (even on iOS 14!), but I cannot confirm that.

Also, photos look great. Sure, perhaps the camera isn’t as feature-heavy as the regular 16 series, but I think it’s oriented towards those who don’t want that anyway.

I think it covers the “basics” pretty well. A better screen than the SE, (finally) great battery life, a simple but effective camera. Considering it’s oriented towards those with older iPhones, it’s okay.

That said, I’m wondering how you feel about the missing camera features coming from a 15 Pro.

The only aspect that I think can be a bit of a bummer is the loss of (typically) one camera when compared to the regular 11 onwards, considering Apple itself markets it for those users (and those with older iPhones than that one), as the compare section goes through to the 12.

Many have said they aren’t massive fans of the Ultra Wide, but others dislike the omission. It’s a personal preference, of course.

The battery life is a nice surprise! Will attach the stats just as I plugged it in this morning, close to 9 hours with 37% left. I’m a pretty heavy user some days so this battery performance is very welcome!

Sadly my 15 Pro come to a nasty end as it wasn’t secure in my pocket, fell onto concrete as I was washing my car & the back glass cracked and water got in!

I did try a Pixel 7 for a short while, didn’t like it! Then used my back up iPhone 8 for a few months before being able to get the 16e. Money was a factor so I just got the cheapest latest iPhone I could and have AppleCare for £4.99 per month.

So far I’m loving it, performance is top notch as is battery life. Sure I miss some of the camera features of the 15 Pro but the camera on the 16e is more than capable of taking some great photos, I look forward to using it more.

Enjoy your new 16 Plus! It’s crazy how close they are in battery life on paper given the device size difference.

Oh, man. This conversation is so tempting me to trade in my 14 Pro and try 16e.

I might get a better price for the 14P now rather than when 17s are out, and I really feel I like light weight and minimalistic design (less camera) a lot.

Promotion is definitely major, but I feel I could later switch to 17 series if I can't live without it.

Decisions, decisions.

Lol give the 16e a try! I’ve been impressed so far. Love the clean aesthetic look, the performance, the great single camera and the battery life is excellent!

Should get a decent trade in value for your 14 Pro. If you really don’t like it then you can always go back to the Pro iPhones.

Very happy with the camera performance on the 16e in various situations and shots.

One thing I've seen mentioned somewhere that I can't find now...

While the 16e can't do official macro shots, because of its focal length (I think it's that?), the main camera can get much closer to a subject than other iPhones and still focus - I believe the difference was something like 3-4" on the 16e vs 8-9" on the 15 Pro / 16, etc. (which obviously have the ability to take true macro shots and therefore don't need it).

Just a sidenote - it can still get pretty darn close and stay focused...

Because the 16e doesn’t have the ultra wide lens then it can’t do marco. But the focus distance is much closer the other iPhones. I will have to try and see how close and the results that can be had, the 2x crop will help to get even closer.

Battery life continues to impress me under moderate to heavy use! I could reduce the charge limit right down if I wanted and still have more than enough for the day.
