Here the 4S definitely has more noise than the 5, but the image is also much shaper. Not sure if that's because of autofocus or if the noise reduction algorithm is making it less sharp.

It appears here that the iPhone 5's metering the scene better to avoid blown out details from the sky, or maybe it has better dynamic range? Or perhaps the iPhone 4 was pointed a little higher and therefore more affected by the sun...
