I just got my new, and first, Mac a few weeks ago. Dual 2.0. I'm still importing all of my music collection.. what a chore!
2177 Tunes
31gb
I am importing everything using Apple Lossless because I want no quality loss. Sometimes I may not be able to tell, but still, I want it to have no generation loss. Besides, I just got a new pair of Genelec studio monitors that I listen to itunes with via my Digi002 connection, and the quality is great. I also am importing my own recordings and I surely don't want any lossiness there.

Welcome back from the Dark Side (and starting off with quite a BANG!) I am now re-encoding everything into 192 kbps AAC and finding that it saves quite a bit of space, also sounds better to me especially with certain songs. Eventually, when I have a better stereo system I will get an Airport Express and broadcast iTunes throughout the house. This will probably happen when I can convince my wife to update my 733mhz 15" iMac and get a much larger hard drive to fit everything encoded at apple lossless codec. The new G5 iMac is quite tantalizing, when it starts shipping with Tiger and we might have a deal.

See my sig line for stats. You guys really should use these statistical analysis websites and post links, they are really cool and much better than typing out the # songs #gigs you have!
