Do you have iFile installed? That can be an easy way to see what I'm talking about. But give me a couple, I'll take a screenshot from the computer and upload it.

Edit: OK--first shot is the In-Apps folder exactly as it comes from Cydia. The second is the new theme I added. See how in the first theme, all the names start with "Silver", and in the second, they all start with "Black"? Basically duplicate the contents of the first folder, change the theme name to something else of your choice (I used Lust SB Battery), and change all file names from beginning with "Silver" to begin with "Black" (same capitalization). This will give you a new theme--containing the exact same files, just renamed--in Winterboard that you can then check. The third image is how that shows in mine.

Hopefully that's a little clearer!

THANK YOU for taking the time out to do those screen shots. I truly appreciate it and I got it to work. I didn't know you can access the files from your phone like that with iFile. So cool!! :D

Did you get your UI from Cydia also? The pink & white/silver (I can't tell the color) exactly.

LOL--I almost mentioned that in the last post as I had a feeling you'd ask. Yes, it's from Cydia, called Metal iPhone Pink iOS4, and it's another free Winterboard theme. I've been using it since I first JB'd last summer. There are things about it I've changed, but most of it I do like, though it doesn't theme everything the way some UI themes do.

I usually drag my own lockscreen above it, and I SSH'd different SMS bubbles and background into it as well, but overall it's kind of cute. Keeps my husband from using my phone too. :D

lol. I had that downloaded before but I didn't like the way something looked so I deleted it. I'll have to figure all this stuff out because I think it was the SMS stuff I didn't like. So I can access the SSH stuff to change stuff around on the theme once I download it?

You can use SSH to manipulate or replace any files in a theme (or elsewhere on the device). But be sure to save the originals somewhere first, either by changing the names (I'll often rename by adding the prefix BCK- to a file before adding the new one in its place) or by saving the original in another location, either on the phone or on your computer. Make sure you pay close attention to capitalization as files won't work if they don't have the exact same name as the originals. And of course, you'll need to do some research to figure out which files affect which functions. All that info I've figured out from doing a lot of digging on this board.

I use PhoneView with my Mac to explore and move files, and TextWrangler to edit HTML/CSS code within widgets. I'll edit directly on the phone with iFile, or use it to rename things, but it's typically easier to do from the computer.

No worries Sankas. Thanks for the widget. I got it all fixed for english. Do you have any problems if i post this widget else where?
Cheers

medic88, I had a question about the english version of this (I believe you posted it over on MMI?)

As you can see in the screen shot, the weather description in the top widget is slightly misaligned to the right. Any idea where I'd go in the code and what I'd need to change? I just spent an hour going through and changing some other stuff (the forecast days to English, for example), but for the life of me, I can't find where to move the description...lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

No more winterboard for me. Enjoying the smoothness. But, seeing you guys with all of these creative themes makes me wanna get winterboard again. Someone convince me?

Thank you so much for all the tips. I can't wait to start playing around with things. I already have TextWrangler thanks to "vong" for helping me learn how to place/edit widgets and apps. I'll have to download PhoneView.

I think the only way to be convinced is to do it yourself. I've never seen a difference, personally--but I also only had an ip4 for about a month before the first JB was available, and started using Winterboard right after that. On the 4, I just don't see any slowdowns versus my husband's phone running on virgin firmware.

Lordy, that sounds so wrong...like my phone's a tricked out (fill in the blank). Oh wait, it is. :D OK, no slowdowns versus "stock" firmware!

Seriously though, if you don't like the way it runs, delete it. It's not like it costs you anything other than time to try it out. And there are those who do it all manually, no WB involved. That takes a lot more time, and you won't be changing it on the fly daily the way a lot of us do, but it can be done.

Was digging through Part 2 of this thread earlier and found this from Lexs--well worth bringing back up, I figured as it's one of my favorites. 1st screenshot is from her original included wallpaper, second with my current background that doesn't show it off nearly as well.

Now if only I could have the car itself as easily as I can change lockscreens...

cubian, I just got home and getting the chance to dload this file, but it looks like in the configure.js file where it says "var showforecast" put true instead of false.

let me know if that does the trick

I think you have a million people that would love your Noki mods. Even Fifty likes your SBSettings buttons.
Any chance you will be sharing your mods?
Cheers

Anyone know where to get this clock/weather theme?

Thank you, it works like a charm. :D
