Seems like most people here have gone with the Speck? Any experience with the Incase? I know it's got a similar rubbery feel. That's what I want! I don't mind which company it's from.

[Edit] Two questions. Does the Incase for the 13" Macbook Aluminum have a rubbery texture on the inside as well or is it hard plastic like the Speck? And when are they going to release a proper version for the 13" Macbook Pro?

I was stuck between the Incipio cover and the Speck Satin, but thanks to Ferris23 for showing me a common issue with the Incipio (pic shows it drooping), I ordered the Speck. Ill post pics when I get it.

Sorry, but I was asking about the Incase, not the Incipio.

Sorry for the double post!! :)

I believe they both have hard plastic on the inside!

Speck Satin SeeThru (Black)

Just got my Speck Satin SeeThru from the original site (coupon code -> 50% off; total = around $32).

Here are some pics:

^ As you can see here, the latch doesn't fit on as snug as the other side.

Aside from that small problem, the case fits very nicely. It feels even better. I love the color of the Apple logo when I'm actually using my MBP.

In the pics, it may look blue-ish, but it's actually a mix of light blue and purple in real life. Awesome color in contrast to the black case. I highly recommend it. $32 is a steal.

:D:)

PS - Notice that the battery button that is on the side doesn't show the green light bar (the dots indicating battery life). It sucked that I pushed the button, and it didn't show the light. Either way, solid case.

Really? In video reviews I've seen the lights shining clearly through.

You're right.

I just pressed the button harder. The lights are working fine.

:D

Sidenote: Fingerprints get on the case pretty easily. I just carried my MBP on the top lid, and fingerprints went straight on.

So I purchased the wine red Speck SeeThru Satin for my 13" uMBP, and I must say, I'm not as pleased as I thought I would be.

I ran into the same back-corner problems as ecstasy did. This is because when they package the case, they really squash it together and the corners are already bent as it is. Poor decision on Speck's part. Also, my laptop battery indicator lights do not shine through at all. I can see them light up; but they do not shine through. It is essentially useless unless your eyes are an inch away from the computer.

Also, the texture of the case seems to make any grit/dust/bits of things that are on the case extremely tangible and palpable. You rest your hand on the case and instead of feeling satin-y smooth, it feels more dirty than clean. Microfibre clothes do not wipe over the texture very easily; and the rough texture also means that any bits of grit on your laptop will literally crumble into a dozen smaller pieces when you try to clean it off.

I also find it much more difficult to remove from/insert into my laptop sleeve, which isn't lined, just smooth neoprene inside.

All in all, I'll leave it for a few months perhaps, then I will probably sell it and opt for a non-satin version or see how the Incase is.

Though perhaps unfounded, I don't particularly like the extremely noticeable weight change either.

3.5/5. I think for the most part, your money is better invested in a good, padded sleeve, which will cost about the same, or less.
