New nike water bottle...

very nice :D

Honestly, when people buy water bottles, I don't understand why anybody buys anything other than a Nalgene. Disregarding price, of course. If you only wanna spend a few bucks, then a Nalgene is not for you. But Nike? C'mon. That's just a dollar-store bargain with a check mark on it.

Who Cares as long as it holds water.

Hmm, reading your post I decided to look up this Nalgene company you talked about.. Why do you think they are so good that anybody that buys a water bottle should buy one? I mean it's basically the same thing as that Nike one. Heck I'd rather just drink out of the bottle that my water came in than walk around with one of those. And look at the price! $10 bucks for one of those? I can get better water bottles than that for free.

Hey iTeen, I like your water bottle!:D

Nope...its a a polycarbonate water bottle, so really its just the same as a Nalgene...and i don't even like Nalgene...

And I paid $10 bucks for it.

Thanks! But they really are nice water bottles...better than anything you can get for free.

You've been exceptionally disagreeable lately. But anyway, up until recently, Nalgene did not use BPA-free plastics for their bottles. This may not be an issue for everyone, but I'm sure some people cared. I do own a Nalgene, but I personally find it too bulky. I have small hands and the 32-oz bottles are just too big around. I prefer a squeezable, sports-top Rubbermaid bottle that I got at Target. It holds less, but it easily fits in a car cup holder and I can put a (soda) can cozy around it to make it less slippery when it sweats (the bottom half anyway).

And considering it probably WAS my last purchase (excluding a prescription), I'll post a picture:

Mine's clear with a yellow top though.

I thought Nalgene were the only ones who claimed it would never mold, crush, etc. I have a few nalgene myself but they were free. ;)

I agree with you cleanup. I could have bought a knock off Nalgene for $1, but I just couldn't do it. The Nalgene I have now has flown across a few parking lots from people tossing it to me and me not catching it.

I did manage to accidently drop it and crack it and get it to leak...well, the lid anyway. :p $2 later and it's good as new again. I also had a friend who had one that fell off his harness while rock climbing and bounced off the rock wall and to the rocks 200 feet below. He went down after climbing and found it all in one piece. It sure had some nasty marks on it after a fall like that, but it held up. Some of those other bottles seem a lot cheaper to me. I'd pay $10 for a Nalgene over a $3 Ozark Trails bottle from Wal-mart anyday!

Oh, and letsgorangers, the reason Nalgene made the switch is because of consumer requests. The FDA has stated the the BPA levels that migrate from the bottles aren't even high enough to cause much harm to the animals they used to test the chemical, and humans are much larger than a rats, eh? But I'll soon be making the switch to a squeeze bottle as my Nalgene won't fit in a water bottle cage on my new mountain bike.

I've owned dozens of water bottles over the years and many have broken or cracked on me, except for the Nalgenes I've owned. Any Nalgenes I've managed to get rid of are because I lost them, not because they broke. I'm not sure how but I've managed to mess up a lot of bottles over years of camping, hiking, etc.

The Nalgenes I use now have been with me since 2003. I only buy new ones because of different sizes/conveniences, not because my old one broke. So the three that I have will last me for decades to come I think.

I usually advise people to buy a Nalgene and then forget about it. I've even converted one-a-day spring water drinkers to drinking Brita water in a Nalgene, and others to switch because they were tired of their other plastic water bottles constantly leaking and cracking or exploding when on trips.

Me loves me Nalgenes.

I recommend a Polar Bottle. Fill it half full, freeze it, then top it off the day of your ride. It'll stay cold the whole ride. I used to do that and leave it in my car for about 5 hours when I was in class and it would still be frozen by the time I went to spin class that evening.

Edit:

I definitely would recommend drinking out of a reusable bottle (Nalgene or not!) over bottled water. I will say this about Nalgene: My friend dropped one off a huge cliff (accidentally) and that was the only one he had ever had break on him. He even ran one over (purposely) and all it did was bend.
